yeah, all three of these songs rely on cool guitar sounds

I thought there would be quite a few Prince songs in this list but I can only really see When Doves Cry being higher than Kiss. Maybe Sign 'O' The Times?
I only voted for one Smiths song that will hopefully appear higher up. How Soon Is Now is a great song but it wouldn't be in my top ten favourite Smiths songs.

This next one is a sample source for quite a few other songs...

I've had 8 of my songs show up so far, though only one of my top 20.

Only two Prince songs I really care about are 'Strawberry Beret' and 'Kiss'. The former wasn't nominated so went with the latter. Wouldn't be surprised if this is the last we see of him on the poll. After all 'Kiss' won his singles poll they did over two years ago.

I didn't vote for any Led Zeppelin, since I thought the choices nominated was a very poor set. This was the best of the nominees though.
― justfanoe (Greg Fanoe), Tuesday, 30 November 2010 21:48 (thirteen years ago) link
I'm not the biggest Zep fan but voted for this because of the drums and the guitar segment just before the vocals. It manages to be propulsive and lazy at the same time. Now that I'm listening closely the instrumentation in the middle is also really good. There's a ton going on.

Can't believe no-one nommed "Strawberry Beret".

shocked soon is so low seeing as last time ILM did an all-time poll it came #1!
such an amazing run of songs so far.

I was wondering when New Order would appear. I'm really glad to see Ceremony make it but I didn't vote for it, I did have three other songs of theirs on my list.

hocked soon is so low seeing as last time ILM did an all-time poll it came #1!
It placed #1 in the shoegaze thread... are you confused or is there really another one of these in existence?

psyched to see "kiss" in the top 100, though it should (of course) have gone much, much higher. "clair de lune" too, though i didn't vote for that, shame on me. bummed about callow upstarts like the smiths, new order and MBV placing on the same level, but it was inevitable, this being ILX and ILX's tastes being frightfully narrow/predictable. "how soon is now" is easily my favorite smiths song, so hooray for that. hooray as well for "into the groove", the best madonna song that isn't "like a prayer" or "hung up".

I voted for 'age of consent' instead of 'ceremony'. Twas my second choice but in the end I decided I would try to vote for only one song per artist, apologies for not helping it rank higher and thank you to everyone who voted for it.

I think it also placed #1 on the 90s singles poll that was made a couple years ago.

i also voted for other New Order track(s)....probably just Bizarre Love Triangle.
And YES to another Kraftwerk.

So far 2 Kraftwerk songs compared to 1 from The Beatles. Awesome. Hope that ratio stays the same.

I didn't vote for any New Order though I'm glad to see 'Ceremony' there. Steven Morris's drumming is amazing. I think I had 'Regret' on my longlist but cut it fairly early - was surprised to realise it was my favourite track of theirs (that was nominated anyway, I love 'Confusion' loads and loads).
There's a Trans-Europe Express cafe in Glasgow, but I haven't been in.

I can't remember if I voted for "The Perfect Kiss" or even if it was nom'd. I get chills when that comes on, every time.

Yay for "Ceremony". I generally went one-song-per-artist too but still had 3 New Order tracks when I finished whittling down. Kerrazy.

That "Top 100 Records" list predates me, and some other people around here I'd presume, so I honestly didn't even know it existed (that I can remember).
― Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Tuesday, 30 November 2010 22:17 (thirteen years ago) link
I hope "Regret" and "True Faith" also make it. Probably wasted a vote with "World In Motion" though.

thrilled to "see trans-europe express" in the top 100, though that too was inevitable. spent all my kraftwerk points on "autobahn", which i have to imagine will do quite well.
