i love tha carter ii & iii and the state vs. radric davis, haven't heard more than a handful of tracks from dedication 2 or da drought 3 or burrprint 3d, which i'll check out on youtube if i am pointed in that direction but otherwise don't really seek out. too much music out there for me to NEED to hear every "good" mixtape track that wayne's ever done; i'm satisfied with a couple statements that he feels justified putting out to the wider public.

You don't NEED to hear anything, but given the mixtapes you listed there are all widely considered to be better* than their attendant studio albums, the fact that you'd bother to check the studio albums but not the mixtapes seems pretty arbitrary.

Like, I get not automatically checking every mixtape an artist puts out, but when some of them are in effect studio albums which possibly even the artist would admit are better than the album that just happens to get officially pushed by a major label, then disregarding them seems obstinate, the equivalent of thinking that, say, 3d animation is for kids.

wouldn't say it's this kinda thing. more like, i've never bothered with any file-sharing or downloading, i tend to like artifacts, things i can curate and put on a shelf and then pull out at various times to reevaluate and hear again. so i've heard tracks here and there from the mixtapes. but once i leave youtube, i don't make an effort to download the full things and store 'em on my hard drive. not really the sins of the artist, more like i pay more attention to what's on physical format because it's what i've always done. maybe i'm old fashioned.

Yes, it's hilarious that Curren$y turns Michael Knight into a catchphrase, but it's really no different than Swizzy yelling "Oh you fancy huh?" a dozen times in a row. And I'm randomly breaking out into MICHAEL KNIGHT! MICHAEL KNIGHT! all the time. And Raekwon kills the remix.

The only bad song is "Silence" wtf is that shit. McKenzie Eddy is the worst. And the beat is jarring too after all that smooth shit.
