well yeah it's a silly beef to have, but i enjoyed gerard's justification in an interview about how he's basically a snob about how vampires are portrayed and thinks they should be gross and scary and not young and sexy

Finally listened the whole thing on the drive to Michigan last night, this is pretty goddamned great. I love this band.

I successfully introduced this to my kids as a possible substitute so we don't have to listen to Green Day on the way to kindergarten every day. Now it's, "Can we hear the Na-Na-Na song?" (Just hoping I don't get a note home about him yelling "fuck like a Kennedy!" on the playground.)

also the rockist in me probably thinks the second side > the first side because there aren't any singles, but those last four or five songs hold gorgeous surprises

my fave part is the bass drone at the end (don't get me wrong, the song is a total belter)

the whole album is so crisp and sharp (which for once i really think works .. ), and then at the very end they drop this almighty bass drone at the end as if to say, "yeah, we know .. "

I have recently discovered an unexpected love for esp. the last couple of MCR records. That awesome interview upthread made me feel less weird about it.

They strike a really great balance btwn sincerity and sneer that reminds me of, well, y'know.

So MCR is releasing 10 of the songs that were scrapped during the Danger Days sessions over the next couple of weeks. The first two, "Boy Division" and "Tomorrow's Money," came out today and they are nice and snarly!

"Boy Division" is good! I'd be happy w/ that as a teaser for a new record.

second pair of outtakes is out -- "AMBULANCE" and "Gun." are both great

on cursory first listen the latter seems to stray into quasi-"political" territory, not sure how I feel about this development

I'm just now hearing the DD outtakes on the Mad Gear and Missle Kid EP and they're pretty good!

Tunes on CW vol. 3 are pretty huge.

OK on sober listen "The Light Behind Your Eyes" is just too broad/soppy for me. Just a step too far into saccharine. On the other hand "Gun" remains ludicrously catchy, though I imagine they'd be in heaps of trouble had it been a single rather than a c-side.

i like all of these songs a lot but i'm also glad they scrapped them and did danger days instead

honestly i’ve made my peace with “sing.” this is their best album

I actually like "Sing"! It's "Planetary" that doesn't work for me
