winter nights/early mornings are the ideal time for dubstep (even here in sunny south florida).
i've been in kind of a dubstep rut. darkstar -- to the extent it was dubstep at all (and i don't think it was) -- seemed undercooked to me. anything new and interesting out there?
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 20 November 2010 12:12 (thirteen years ago) link
Darkstar was okay, not something I'd want to hear all the time. I'm enjoying James Blake's stuff, the new Horsepower Productions, that thing Scientist did where he dubs up tracks by Pinch and Jack Sparrow.

It's two discs i think. One with the original tracks and the other with the dubs.
― Number None, Saturday, 20 November 2010 18:51 (thirteen years ago) link
yeah I think the package comes with both sleeves... I know the 80s Scientist artwork is like uber-classic but the two above just make me feel nauseous. Album is OK, not brilliant

are earlier scientist discs "uber-classics"? i like some of his stuff, but never ever considered it on the level of, say, king tubby or scatch perry.

Scientist *artwork*

(this^ owns though even if it's not a gamechanger per se)

"are earlier scientist discs "uber-classics"?"
They are really good, yeah (agree they are not really game-changing though). And artwork is def. amazing.

I'm glad that The Wire is covering Shackleton a lot recently. I really like his stuff.

Most of you already now this by now, but Scuba - Triangulation is seriously the bidness!
It's actually kind of ridiculous how amazingly well this album flows. It manages to listen like a masterfully well sequenced mix; this makes me all the more excited to see him play here in a week!

Yeah I just got the double CD pack. Shall be listening to the remixes later. I've just heard the Deadbeat one thus far, but it's good.

The new LV album's got a track called "Northern Line" which I'll never be able to get out my head when getting on the tube.

Can't wait to get this, even though I've heard the Quest tunes a billion times before and the last Silkie album underwhelmed me. These two together are straight fire.
Vahid did you ever hear their Uprooted live set from like 2008? One of my favourite sets ever.

it's going to sound corny but this is like the jacob's optical stairway of dubstep in places

Yeah Jacob's Optical Stairway are a good comparison.
I think also Bugz in the Attic at their best?
