Maybe I would have had better luck starting a thread about Sonny Curtis, steel guitar player for The Jones Boys.

Wow. Just noticed this thread.

Sonny made history as the first rock n roller to record with a Fender Stratocaster, which he played on such records as "Blue Days, Black Nights," and his own composition, "Rock Around With Ollie Vee."

"Rock Around ..." is great. But so is Joe South's "Walk a Mile in my Shoes"

I love the chorus of "Walk a Mile". I never paid too much attention to the lyrics to that one, which get bashed in that other Joe South thread.

never knew Curtis wrote "The Straight Life," which i knew as a kid from Glen Campbell's version. But have you heard Bing Crosby's?
