also, "Sussudio" was one of the first videos I really looked forward to.

For some reason, a young Mr. Diamond really enjoyed the spectacle of a balding Phil Collins keeping his arms really close to his chest whilst he danced in front of a microphone. But christ did that groove EXPLODE out of the speakers on "Friday Night Videos".

Woohoo! Some other tracks I guess would have made mine:

The Colour Field: "Castles in the Air"
The Cure: "Close to Me"
Dead Or Alive: "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)"
Dream Academy: "Life in a Northern Town"
Propaganda: "P:Machinery"

and, ducking in advance, maybe even

Marillion: "Kayleigh"

Damn, that's impressive. I'd've thrown in Naked Raygun's "Rat Patrol" or the Misfits' "TV Casualty" or Tom Waits' "Jockey Full of Bourbon", but it's still strong without 'em.

why do i remember rock the bells coming out in 84? could i have heard it or Radio in 84? yeah, memory is weird. and annhilate this week was on Loose Nut right? i definitely don't remember that being 85. jeez. ah, but i remember picking up the 12 inch of Primitive painters at Tower in manhattan like it was yesterday! even though it was 18 years ago. and i just bought the Felt dvd yesterday! great mix, jess.

if you're American then "Life In A Northern Town" is 1986 - mind you so is Duran's "Notorious" which gabbo did include ...

Waaaiiitt...Coil's "Tainted Love" is totally 1984. AND FUCKING FUCKING FUCK I want "How Soon Is Now?" on MINE. It was on an 1984 album and it even wound up on Peel's Festive 50 for '84!

You really, really need Sheila E's Glamorous life and Colourbox's The moon is blue. Plus as I'm feeling pedantic Moments in love goes way back to '83 on the Into battle with AON EP..

'glamorous life' was '84. but 'a love bizarre' was on her '85 lp!

jesso, gonna have to be a nitbicky pitch here, but Art of Noise's "Moments in Love" is originally from 1983, and the redone version is from 1984. Besides, you ignored "In Visible Silence" from 1985, which has plenty of good stuff on it!
