I find I'm explaining myself more often. I'll mention my drunk uncle Charlie, the one who accidentally married the Brooklyn Bridge during an incident involving tequila and obscure municipal codes, and have to explain "yeah, this is the Uncle Charlie who was nuts for tequila and girders," which gives way to some other unrelated anecdote about the time he got his dick caught in a girder while interning for a construction company, and all the guys called him "Rivet-Dick" until he quit.

I'm making that example up, unfortunately.

But yeah, you can avoid the politics, in my experience. Might be tougher if you have friends who participate in them and you don't want to alienate/exclude them, I don't know.

one year passes...
I'm just starting a new diary. I decorated it on the inside. The small, compact leather bound notebook only cost me $3.75! I'm starting it on Monday!
I think taking it with you everywhere is ok, but you have to have it write inside your pocket. For example, if someone took your bag, well.. your secrets will be out!
I hope all the best for others starting a diary!

Mine has just fallen apart. I need to tape or glue the pages back together. Next time I should get a more sturdy one to write in.

I used to keep a writing journal which I typed in intermittently, as a place for brainstorming story ideas and so forth, so that all my shit would be in one place, but it degenerated into constant haranguing at myself for writing about writing instead of actually writing.

I can sing a few bars of that. My journal starts with a comment about forcing myself to write 500 words every day, followed by two ~3,000 chunks of short story, then nothing. I haven't touched it in months.

That ljdrama site is insane! I mean, I suspected there were lots of stupid people with blogs, but mon dieu...

I think the Livejournal statistics make that a little less shocking, but yeah, any time I look at ljdrama there's something that surprises me.
