i mean im not defending dj holiday on some 'its ok cuz black ppl do it' or something. just sayin that i dont think tags are wack by definition & some tapes have enhanced my listening exp w/ the dj bringing tracks back &starting them over, shouting stuff on them, etc.

i like this dre song

yeah but it's almost like dre taking the good things about his music to a bad extreme...like his best tracks just seem perfect, these feels so labored and stitched together, like he's had way to much time to keep fucking with it (also the hooks are bad)

dj tags + screaming can add something occasionally imo. dj holiday is the worst tho cos he has his levels turned up so much louder than the actual music. makes it impossible to listen to any of his mixtapes in the car without constantly reaching to turn down the volume so you're not rolling past people blasting "I KNOW SOME OF YALL MEDIUM WELL" etc

"daddy's lambo" might be the best thing he's done

"billy crystal" and "get the fuck up" are must-hear too

basically i love the little details and twists he puts in the poor dude/rich girl narrative in "daddy's lambo" to prevent it from being remotely clichéd - you really get a feel for both characters and their motivations. and it's got a great hook.
