Bought. Cheers.

I find myself instinctively pulling down to refresh, ala twitter or Facebook. Can you steal that functionality?
― Jeff, Saturday, 20 November 2010 18:33 (thirteen years ago) link
Ha, I was thinking of the same thing the other day!
The other thing that crossed my mind -- the 'reconnect' feature is wonderful, but I notice it doesn't automatically refresh the page either. Might that be a possibility?
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 20 November 2010 18:38 (thirteen years ago) link
That pull-down thing is now a public library of some sort, innit?
― Friday: vuvuzela club meeting (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 20 November 2010 21:00 (thirteen years ago) link
It would be pull-up for Zing, wouldn't it? Will look at that. Have also done away with the reconnecting thing in next version, have better solution.
― stet, Saturday, 20 November 2010 21:21 (thirteen years ago) link
Looks like there are a few open implementations: http://blog.leahculver.com/2010/07/iphone-pull-to-refresh.html

clear your cache? (logout and relogin)? reinstall? (sorry I'm not stet)
― .\ /. (dayo), Tuesday, 30 November 2010 00:23 (thirteen years ago) link
That flashed up for me but it went away again after a second. I agree with dayo, reinstall it.

I had some strange behavior with the update, but then I logged out and in and it went away.

geez you guys with your common sense.
j/k, that did it, thx!

Alternatively, how about shake-to-refresh a la Echofon?

These are the things I would love to see (but am not demanding):
- control over font size- ability to re-add hidden borads
― Interests: eating my cookie (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 30 November 2010 01:35 (thirteen years ago) link
I'd love to adjust font sizes as well. Not a fan of shaking to do anything because I end up doing this by accident way too often.
― joygoat, Tuesday, 30 November 2010 02:00 (thirteen years ago) link
Ditto.

SNA page is where the fonts are badliest in their bigness. Not a fan of the whole tram seeing 49 reasons she thinks he's gay (although I could always just use the normal ilx site so)

― shirley summistake (s1ocki), Tuesday, 30 November 2010 03:06 (thirteen years ago) link
Wondering if you have any inclination to make an iPad-sized version of this? Probably an unnecessary pain but I would definitely download it.
― macaroni rascal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 30 November 2010 03:09 (thirteen years ago) link
My requests:
1. Search2. A way to see my bookmarks even if they haven't updated.3. (and this is way pie-in-the-sky) Server-side image resizer that would allow viewing of picture threads on iPhone.

Those would be cool.
― i need to organize my zines (Jesse), Tuesday, 30 November 2010 04:12 (thirteen years ago) link
2 would be great but I'm conscious of the fact that it's not meant to do everything ilx does.
― Interests: eating my cookie (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 30 November 2010 04:19 (thirteen years ago) link
Yes. My standard disclaimer that applies to all requests is "...but I love it the way it is, thanks!"

been using zing lite for a while now and finally sprang for the paid version. thanks for putting so much work into this, i used the free version all the time.

^ditto. So glad I made the jump; this is easily one of my top 5 most used iPhone appz.

You just reminded me of the other change I would like to see.
Also, with the screen space required for fingers some of this stuff is probably ridiculous. I imagine you could only get the text size down so far before the elements are too small to select.

Finally ante'd up. Since I've been less active on ILX I waited. Now I see that Zing will bring me back. Damn you Stet!
― J, Wednesday, 1 December 2010 04:06 (thirteen years ago) link
I don't think an ipad version is necessary - it's got enough screen that web ILX runs just fine.
― I DIED, Wednesday, 1 December 2010 05:44 (thirteen years ago) link
Web ilx does work fine but something a la Reeder for ilx would be fantastic
― licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 1 December 2010 07:18 (thirteen years ago) link
iPad app would be preferable to the web version.
― Jeff, Wednesday, 1 December 2010 13:20 (thirteen years ago) link
Part of what makes ilx ilx is the fact that it's simple and functionally bare. Zing is good because it does what it needs to do. As baader said the std we site is fine on an iPad, but it's always been tricky on an iPhone screen.
― Interests: eating my cookie (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 1 December 2010 20:57 (thirteen years ago) link
'we site'?
Having spunked a UI lecture on you lot I would now like to request a feature. When viewing bookmarks and threads, display the name of the forum to which the threads belong. Ta.

bought this for the iPhone a while back. can I also download it to my iPad? every time I try, it looks as if I will have to rebuy it. not sure if this is the case or if apple's store is just goofed up. please help. urgent.

There's no + sign next to the price i.e. it's not listed as a universal app so yeah, will probably charge you twice. stet?
btw weird to note I made it to an app store screenshot and am therefore famous.
― aa (Schlafsack), Wednesday, 1 December 2010 23:23 (thirteen years ago) link
It won't charge you twice, if you have the iPad assigned to the same iTunes account. Alternately just hook the iPad up to iTunes and sync the app that way.
