yeah i had a great run with the dragonov from a tower in one of the large snowy maps, picking off dudes left and right. then it was all downhill from there.

ive never had a high kill ratio in any of the previous games., my average is 8-12. i think once i got 17 and was so proud of myself.

That big tower on the snowy level, I've had that once, and just sat there picking two guys off who just kept climbing up for more.

well ive made it to level 17. whoopee. i live the FAMAS in this game but it blows through ammo instantly. I'm having incredible success with the M14 though...my gun of choice right now.

meh i never get on maps that are good for sniping. seem to be playing in firing range constantly....

I get annoyed when dudes who are obsessed with racking up kills keep forcing votes to play on nuketown over and over and over.

yep, that happened to me while playing demolition. Nuketown over and over. That map seems like a complete waste.

There really aren't any maps good for sniping in this - I think I've been sniped three times in over ten hours of game time. Plus they nerfed the sniper. Claymores are god tier though.

No voting on PC thankfully. They've said they're going to patch out the ability to vote for maps you just played to fix this on consoles BTW.

yeah - yeah - there are a few spots, but nothing like previous games. Maybe in the DLC packs.

yeah agreed. which sort of sucks for a player like me who loves to snipe, and im not talking camping. Thankfully Black Ops has toned down the sniping to the point that there are no more of those quick scoping shitheads. A sniper rifle needs to be used like a sniper rifle...

It didnt help that hit detection with quick scoping was completely ludicrious and resulted in a bunch of generous kills for the scopee

I watched my friend play a little of the single player. I was blown away by how incomprehensible the cutscenes are.

agreed. that was one thing that always turned me off from playing, quick scoping and the run and stab dudes.

i think i hated those runners more than the quick scopers.

the single player 'plot' at least makes some semblance of sense. I barely knew who half the characters were in MW2

using crossbow on hardcore is quite daft, the initial impact always kills, so you're always exploding corpses.

if exploding corpses in a video game is wrong, i don't want to be right

yeah but the coolest thing is seeing someone be stuck, having the moment of "fuck" and then getting blown up.

I don't know why they give you that "stuck" icon if there's nothing that can be done about it. it seems to be adding insult to injury. Also i wish it weren't in the sticks and stones game. That game would be more fun with just ballistic knife and tomahawk.

sticks and stones is kind of silly since imo it's as easy to hit with the tomahawk as it is to hit with the other too. playing it i "humiliated" a lot more often than i stuck.

I love the tomahawk and ballistic knife combo and use them often in the regular game. I find tomahawk a better distance weapon, as you can try for ricochet and you can predict the drop more naturally over a distance. or so it seems to me.

i play hardcore so only really use those when i'm dicking about. ball. knife is especially tricky on hardcore cause of no crosshair.

i've been sniping like a mf now. its all in the variable scope.

Do you use that little video camera? I see snipers having installed it, but i don't know what it's good for, or why it's any better than just putting a claymore there. there are too many gimmicks for campers in this game.

Also the summit level is pretty ridiculous on domination if one team controls 2 of the 3 points. Can easily turn into a one sided slaughter.

I seriously can't stand grid, can't get to grips with it at all. Am loving cracked and nuketown though, amazed that I've got my best killstreak so far on the latter.

I usually toss a grenade or semtex in there every time I spawn - free money.

I feel like I get more or less the same sort of concentrated pleasure from the new pac-man game as from this game.

good grief no, as Jeff points out, that's the first place to get grenade spam. On that map I usually sweep behind whichever house I'm spawning at and catch people coming through, occasionally making a foray to the front of the house to pop off a few shots and head back. I'm definitely not one to go piling in running and gunning on that map - I value my lives too much, I'd much rather go, say 10/5 than 11/20.

still can't put a plan together on radiation or grid tho, even though that's come up more than the others today, with maybe the exception of crisis.

Incredible. Is it the only usable lmg in the history of these games? It seems like it pops to ADS as fast as any other weapon besides a pistol or smg.

It's just bloody awesome. Extended mags a necessity tho, fire rate is v high.

holy cow - I just started using the underbarrel flamethrower - it's SO GOOD. So much fun!

You know, I've never even considered it. Can imagine it being handy on Hanoi or cracked (the shattered building one that I haven't played in a while)
