You can improvise with pieces of foam rubber, that kind of thing. When my eldest was a toddler we had a plastic ball dispenser for washing liquid taped to the particularly vicious corner of our glass dining table.

Yayyyy!thanks for the reccs. we have this foam floor thing that we might try to use as some sort of padding. won't look great, but oh well. can't believe those bumpers are so expensive!

They are so light and small at that age that whatever they bang into or fall against won't be able to cause much damage. Maybe put a stair gate up? We put a gate across our living room, but mostly just to keep them from getting into stuff. For our fireplace, we got a doorway gate and wedged it in there...

keeping this thread on its path from immobile baby to mobile baby, here's the kiddo dancing, walking, clapping hands, talking, all in the space of 30 secondshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONQ4Aq0Jfsk
we've also come up with a fairly good fireplace solution. we affixed this foamy rug thing that had been in her room to the corners, so i think that'll work.

Oh my god. She's adorable, Tyler. I am so, so stoked for when my daughter gets to do that kind of stuff.

love baby dancing, it seems like they have no concept of what they're doing, just that bending their knees when they hear tunes seems like the right thing to do

yeah, she basically likes anything with a good beat. it seems totally involuntary most of the time.
