oh wait it's "unfortunate" that i really love! i like "unusual" - and indeed drake's verse - more than i thought i would and i don't think it's out of place, just wouldn't defend it as much as "unfortunate"

I love "Unfortunate" too but that and "Doorbell" are kinda predictably great. With "Unfortunate" I'd go so far as to say that the arrangement is so obviously awesome from the first second that the underperforming chorus is almost a let-down, but then that underperforming chorus is also kind of the point of the song and I don't know whether it would work with a big break-out moment.

two months pass...

Ever since someone suggested that the harmonies on "Bottoms Up" are "pure barbershop", I always envision a quartet of Treys with canes and pinstripe hats whenever I hear it.

it really, really bugs me in "say aah" how ludacris refers to "patron" as "he"

it really, really bugs me in that post how you refer to "fabolous" as "ludacris"

that he got with benny blanco and still turned out a midtempo r&b jam is kind of a testament to how trey will never cave to dance pop crossover

last thing: heard "say ahh" on the radio yesterday and it actually took me 30 seconds to realize that i wasn't hearing "bottoms up"

J0rdan S., Friday, 6 July 2012 02:42 (eleven years ago) link

i hear SA on the radio now way more than BU, feels like a much more enduring song

some dude, Friday, 6 July 2012 02:44 (eleven years ago) link

i think i'd still take "bottoms up" only because i detest fab's verse on "say ahh" but yeah the latter is a really great song & sounds even better now that "blame it" doesn't hang over it

J0rdan S., Friday, 6 July 2012 02:46 (eleven years ago) link

I've never liked "Say Ahh" at all, love "Bottoms Up"

addicted to this song right now, that dumb little guitar riff is so satisfying. really loving all the 2006-2010 stargate produced singles atm.

stargate had a great run as hitmakers tbh
