New Shoes.

I had a pair of knee-high lace up boots that I had to get rid of because they were just too heavy. I felt like a Jacob Marley's ghost thing going on from the knees down.

lol that is almost as much weight as my ski boots

i thought spending $150 on shoes was crazy. thats about my limit.

They were ridiculously expensive ($450, parents picked up half for my birthday present) - but I wear 13EE, and there's fuck-all in terms of boots I like at that size without going semi-custom. They'll last me 10+ years with resoling and care, so I figure it's worth it - before my feet got wider, I was killing a pair of DM 1460s every year.

If you wear a normal size, keep an eye on Ebay. I hear White's sells straight from the factory on the cheap sometimes.

This is the thread where I say that it irritates me on a low but constantly disgusted level to see guys wearing great boots but not bothering to lace the top half and letting everything flop around under their skinny girl jeans. I don't even care if they were MADE that way and they in fact have NO eyelets or speed hooks on the upper 5 inches, IT'S STILL STUPID.

The Campers have worked out great although they turned out to not look quite as sharp as I would like with a suit and are better with a nice jeans and a jacket type outfit. Something about the particular brown and the laces.

yeah i love all campers but their dress shoe designs are just short of formal enough a lot of the time.

which sucks because then i have no cool yet formal shoes to wear w/a suit.

Q: Could I get away with wearing the black ones with a standard-looking suit? The side of the sole is sort of a tan/light brown as opposed to a typical all-black dress shoe.

went back to peep the cos shoes earlier but the only pair in my size were fairly badly scuffed and was only offered another 10pc off so just left them

Really torn about the duckie browns. Basically the situation was this: got $150 in gift cards (would really not have preferred florsheim but I said I needed dress shoes and that's what I got); went in, bought some $200 dress shoes that I NEVER would have spent $200 for in my life, but since I was only adding $50, whatever. But even the $200 shoes I just didn't really like. Also the guy handed me a 20% off discount card on the way out, so now I'm thinking, fuckit, maybe I should just trade up to the duckie browns at an extra $40. But they have to be proper as dress shoes with a suit, because I work in a law office.

they look similar to the cos pair I posted in the other new shoes thread (w/the brownish tan sole) and I wouldn't wear those with a suit I don't think, or at least not to work (also a law bod)
