Isn't Pegg besty mates with Paltrow & Chris Martin or something?

To have that sort of access to Coldplay and not at least try and do a Stauffenberg is basically a crime against humanity. xp

idk mane being a 'i hate coldplay' guy is kind of a played look imo

Yeah Coldplay as a sound are frequently okay, couldn't give a shite about the sleb politics.

This on a thread ragging on shite comic actors.

Yeah but if it wasn't for this thread I mightn't have come across

"I really liked hip-hop until the gangsta rap took over. I come from a time when not every rap record was 'nigga' this and 'nigga' that; an earlier socially and morally conscious hip-hop sensibility, when it was, 'Don't call people nigga'."

"But now it's nigga, nigga, nigga, and it's not funny or interesting politically, artistically or socially. I really don't like it."

NV, It's interesting, cos you're clearly not the only one who dislikes chumminess and inclusiveness in an actor or comedian, since lots of people seem to agree with you ITT. If that's the ONLY thing going for a comedian then it's a problem, and taken to extremes it's really fucking annoying (cf Corden) but surely there's more going on here than JUST that. Pegg always seems to play likeable characters unless he's geeking out in Dr Who, or maybe he just MAKES them likeable? I dunno. Freeman's a blank canvas that either works (Sherlock) or just acts as a charisma vacuum (everything else). I can guarantee right now he's gonna fuck up The Hobbit.

I'm saving the Freeman interview so every time somebody claims one of his arguments is strawman I can pull it up and say "no here is the last human being in captivity who has thunk these thoughts".

In need of animating I think:

On UK comedy:

"I come from a time when not every routine was 'pirate' this and 'ninja' that; an earlier socially and morally conscious comedy sensibility, when it was, 'Don't call people ginger'.

"But now it's ninja, ninja, ninja, and it's not funny or interesting politically, artistically or socially. I really don't like it."

I was going to make this very quip. :'(

before reading this thread I knew and thought pretty much nothing about Martin Freeman, and now that I've read it I see that he is a giant twat who I should hate a lot. It pleases me that I can trust ILX to be edifying like this.

Freeman was just about passable as B.S. Johnson in the radio 3 adaptation of The Unfortunates. This is higher praise than it might seem as I am VERY precious about that book.

Not actually bothered enough by either actor to cast a vote, however.

emil.y, Friday, 5 November 2010 21:25 (thirteen years ago) link

Freeman was good in the Greenaway flick. Pegg's alien movie looks dire as hell. I like 'em both, kind of a tough call.
