The door handle came off our oven on one side I removed it fully and managed to extract the broken screw from the thread then found out the type of screw and went in to a hardware shop and ordered it using the measurements and everything now by fuck lads that's manning right there

It's a standoff 25mm female 10mm male hexagonal barrel 5mm thread 8mm on the short side screw and I said it very confidently right out and she said brass or what and I squeaked oooo I don't know like Frankie Howerd

you're talking about a difference of like 10 cents though ... it's easier if you take the screw with you to the store. Do your stores not have self-serve bins of screws, bolts, nuts, washers, etc. where you can pick out what you want? Trying to understand why you had order it.

This thread reminds me of my work holiday party, wherein I was cornered by a middle-aged ex-cop coworker, an affable enough guy but one I don't really know at all. He started telling me long, elaborate stories about his hot rod/drag racing days and it was full of car descriptions that might as well have been in aramaic--"He had the fully-stocked, GT122 with the factory specs -- this was before they switched to the newer chassis in 73 -- and this thing just hummed. And his other car he wouldn't even take out, it was a mint, 68 'Tago, but he had modded it out with a 3.2 engine and red-wall tires" and I just had to be like "yeah, totally" like I knew what the fuck he was talking about.

That said, I did get really excited using my new tire inflator for the first time (compressor on old one crapped out) -- it automatically shuts off at the target psi, and also it looks cool.
