Babylon 5! Good suggestion. Right after I finish jackass 2.5

I have been making may way through xena, since I used to watch it twice a day in college. I can't remember if the first season was just meh, or it really hasn't aged well.

The Dungeonmaster
The evil wizard Mestema (Richard Moll) has waited centuries for the perfect opponent. He finally finds him in nerdy programmer Paul (Jeffrey Byron) -- an otherwise regular guy with an unusually close bond to his sentient computer -- whom he challenges to a series of trials. Testing Paul's physical strength and mental acuity, Mestema forces him to battle monsters, zombies and more to save his soul and that of his girlfriend, Gwen (Leslie Wing).

Dungeonmaster is terrible but pretty fun to watch so far.

more things i won't watch but you might:

Bombshell - 1996
http://instantwatcher.com/titles/159857
Set in a brightly colored near future, this sci-fi thriller shows how far a company will go to keep an employee from telling the truth when scientist Buck Hogan (Henry Thomas) has his kidney stolen and replaced with a chemical bomb. The reason? He voiced concerns about the safety of the corporation's cancer-curing device. Now, Buck finds himself in a frantic race to neutralize the bomb and stop the fatal "cure" from being unleashed on the public.

The Monitors - 1969
http://instantwatcher.com/titles/159851
In this darkly comic sci-fi film, a race of aliens known as the Monitors comes to Earth and exerts rigid control over all of humanity, instituting a series of strict new "laws" designed to rid the world of dangerous vices. It's up to a passionate band of underground rebels (including Guy Stockwell, Susan Oliver, Sherry Jackson and Larry Storch) to kick the extraterrestrial hall monitors out and send them back to outer space where they belong.

now available in Canada: To Be Or Not To Be (1942, Lubitsch), easily one of the funniest movies ever.

showing peter weir's fearless in widescreen now, kind of a big deal if you dig the movie. there was never a widescreen DVD release.

also i ahve to say british people -- due to canada netflix being a little dry i have been watching your tv series, and red dwarf? i am not sure i get why it is so beloved. i mean, i am on the seventh series so it's good enough for me to play while doing other things, but... yeah.

I started watching LOTR-FOTR and realized how much better the Director's Cut is and turned it off and went back to non-HD DVD... and then realized that Netflix Streaming quality is pretty horrible even compared to DVD/CRT TV!

the main problem I have is pixelation during complicated camera movement (like, say, an aerial zoom out or quick pans), or a kind of strobe effect when the camera moves quickly. I decided a long time ago not to fuck with any action movies on streaming for that reason. also, I don't know about you guys, but I have to pause it fairly often because of a jerkiness that occasionally develops. I use PS3 for mine, and that jerky stuff didn't happen before the update which upped the resolution to 1080.

get off my lawn (rockapads), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 22:00 (thirteen years ago) link

I rarely have to pause. As for the pixelization, it's streaming video. Adjust expectations accordingly.

Jeff, Tuesday, 7 December 2010 22:23 (thirteen years ago) link

I spend my days watching youtube videos so a little pixelation is not a big deal to me.

macaroni rascal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 7 December 2010 22:25 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah i'm ok with the pixelation for most things. just not going to watch a big event special fx movie for the first time on streaming is all.

Ichi (i.e. daughter of Zatoichi) was dumb. That it was dubbed made it even more so. She is at least bloody hot.

what's the deal with movies in the wrong aspect ratio? homicide (mamet) and the grifters both use the old tv ratio. and homicide's boxart is criterion's.
