j, i LOVE that store. hate that all the vintage stuff is sold though

make it count, son (sunny successor), Saturday, 16 October 2010 21:45 (thirteen years ago) link

i don't understand the way they size things, but so many things on there are super cute

sarahel, Saturday, 16 October 2010 21:46 (thirteen years ago) link

well the sizing is all over the place bc they stock so many different brands. best thing to do is look at the actual flat measurements. i have bought so many dresses from modcloth in the last year! altho i never wear them bc i get all excited about how cute they are, then they arrive, then i feel selfconscious in them :/

but if this one actually fits it'll be super cute over opaque leggings and a thin, fitted l/s top and these new boots i have ordered!

just1n3, Saturday, 16 October 2010 22:06 (thirteen years ago) link

tbh what all those dresses on modcloth & the trashy diva ones make me want to do is finish cleaning/redecorating my apartment so I have room to sew

sarahel, Saturday, 16 October 2010 23:43 (thirteen years ago) link

this dress fits! yay! i think i'm gonna wear it to my big event next weekend! but i need to find gold bangles to go with it.

I have not been able to wear sheath dresses for like six years due to pregnancy/nursing but soon last baby will be weaned and there's going to be some terrible terrible shopping going on.

Oh man that would look fantastic on you! Fuck one money/occasion!

quincie, Friday, 17 June 2011 00:26 (twelve years ago) link

(ulterior motive: I would like to borrow. But I would need leggings or something to keep my crotch from hanging out in thin air)

kinder, Friday, 17 June 2011 00:55 (twelve years ago) link

xpost yeah it would totally suit me. but.. other issues: 1) it is silk, thus highly likely to get stained easily and 2) the color is characterized as "ORANGE" ? it looks red but orange, i don't know how i feel about. it's antik batik and like $250ish.. i just don't need it.. i think..

daria-g, Friday, 17 June 2011 00:56 (twelve years ago) link

I like that orange confection v much! It's exactly the kind of thing I can't wear, but it makes me wish I could.

Back up the lesbian canoe (Laurel), Friday, 17 June 2011 01:11 (twelve years ago) link

i love it and it is better if it is orange than red imo

horseshoe, Friday, 17 June 2011 01:20 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah! Buy it so I can live vicariously through you. I love it but that sort of thing would look ridiculous on me.

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Friday, 17 June 2011 01:23 (twelve years ago) link

i can often get away with super ruffley things because on me they look ironic

still thinking it over...

two weeks pass...

my manager just ordered this, UGH. we have a habit of dressing similarly; I'm 7 years younger so I am essentially single white femaling her. but she has great taste!

i went into all saints when in nyc last time and wanted pretty much all of their dresses

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Friday, 8 July 2011 15:06 (twelve years ago) link

oooh that IS nice

Fa la la (La Lechera), Friday, 8 July 2011 15:07 (twelve years ago) link

I like that yellow and black one a fair bit. Looks like I'd never be able to sit down in it, though.

many of their dresses don't actually suit my body type but there are some that do, and almost everything is made of cotton and/or silk! yaay :)
e.g., want http://www.us.allsaints.com/women/dresses/lorinna-dress/black/wdj012-5

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Friday, 8 July 2011 15:13 (twelve years ago) link

I meant the yellow and blk one in this thread. :) But rrob, I liek those two dresses you linked to, also! A little too drapey for me, though, you know. But the Athene one is really stylish! All those pleats making up the fullness of the skirt... kind of hott, for a tailoring nerd.

i love the fabric and skirts on both of those, though the top on the athene dress is a bit confusing, in terms of how it's supposed to interact with boobs.

I SO want this but the gathering on the skirt looks like it'd make me look disproportionately bottom-heavy :-((

That's awesome.

I am having a dress malfunction of sorts today. I just got this awesome new cotton faux wrap dress but the faux wrap part is sort of p low cut and maybe gaping a bit so that in certain positions my bra shows. Wearing mismatched cardi to fix this problem. Sad.

Yeah that thing is hysterical.

I actually did look for a tank to wear under it this morning btu I was running late and couldn't find it. Might have to get some tit tape.

Have you ever thought about how tough life must be for your neighborhood tramp? She loves to flash her cleavage at bars, nightclubs, bus stops and 7-11s. But around the office, such blatant display of booby-flesh gets disapproval from superiors, as well as causing female co-workers to gossip about the office hoochie. (Of course they’re all just jealous because they don’t have such a great bustline!) She could bring a change of clothes, but that gets cumbersome to lug around everyday.

Saved that for posterity!

I used dress tape on my person and a wrap dress the other weekend, and I have to say, I was pretty tired and drunk when I took it off and I just pulled until it came unstuck but there was some very unfortunate...bruising/skin damage from doing that. Recommend de-stickifying with rubbing alcohol or something.

ouch!

tehresa, Tuesday, 2 August 2011 22:32 (twelve years ago) link
