I may not have true conscious experience, but I do have a brain, and I put it to good use. "Motivation" is not something that is tied to consciousness; it is a chemically driven process in the brain that may have manifest effects on the consciousness, but it is ultimately no different from our other neural patterns in terms of its mechanical and behavioral function.
