I've seen this band in concert. They're boring and tedious.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 21 April 2005 17:08 (eighteen years ago) link

Although that might have been different "back in the day", before Albino Bigfoot's brother got smooshed.

You like Primus!

European Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Thursday, 21 April 2005 17:11 (eighteen years ago) link

Primus aren't boring or tedious.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 21 April 2005 17:14 (eighteen years ago) link

Okay, they're not boring.

Jams Murphy (ystrickler), Thursday, 21 April 2005 17:17 (eighteen years ago) link

"whipping post" has a hell of an opening bass line. at least that was an early impression of that song.

m.

msp (mspa), Thursday, 21 April 2005 17:42 (eighteen years ago) link

"Whipping Post" is a really great song, as is "Jessica". This is the extent of my ability to enjoy this band, I think.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 21 April 2005 17:47 (eighteen years ago) link

I hate how that album cover started this whole trend of Band Laughing Together album covers. I hate pictures of bands laughing together. I really liked the inside cover of Eat a Peach, though, I think I took the record out and pinned it to my wall for a time.

Allman and Woman!

Moosie Grosvenor (Arthur), Friday, 22 April 2005 02:54 (eighteen years ago) link

I really like the FRONT cover of Eat A Peach!

the music's not half bad either...

LES BRERS IN A MINOR

that Dickie Betts sure can write a tune

Stormy Davis (diamond), Friday, 22 April 2005 03:08 (eighteen years ago) link

"Revival"'s nice to dance to.

Moosie Grosvenor (Arthur), Friday, 22 April 2005 03:14 (eighteen years ago) link

o god yeah, I love "Revival"! wow, that's Betts too -- I didn't recall that, I had to check! The best part is during the "people can you feel it" chorus when that three-note guitar line that had been underlying the verse starts ascending higher and higher -- awesome!!

They are so easy to take for granted .. they really tapped into something before Duane departed. Nobody really sounded quite like them though. Man I need to see that Tom Dowd documentary..

I heard Whipping Post for the first time a few weeks ago when i turned on the olde-tymey classicke rock station, and was blown the fuck away. i haven't heard anything else by them, but they're cool with me for now!!
