yes, it was a book about women quitting smoking. I don't know why I bought it since I did not intend to quit at the time. Or so I thought, because then I did. It wasn't even a particulary good book, just a fictionary account about someone quitting, but it turned out that it helped a lot (it's 2 years and a half I quit).
In fact both the title and the cover are embarassing in their "selfhelpness", but it is nonetheless one the books I'm most proud to have in my library.

How to Win Friends and Influence People taught me how often sales people try to shaft me. The Go-Getter taught me that some people have no life.

Haven't actually read this, but I've heard good things about "The Creative Habit" by Twyla Tharp.

Twyla Tharp's book is good. Her basic recommendation is to work very hard and try to work with the best people you can find. Also, Ben Stein wrote a terrific book called How to Ruin Your Life. See a review at:

Too Good to Leave, Too Bad to Stay by Mira Kirshenbaum helped me justify the decision to divorce.

thirteen years pass...

I need a book that will inspire me to keep a positive attitude and undertake the difficult, lonely, but rewarding road of breaking probably 100 unhealthy habits and replacing them with a more mindful, fulfilling lifestyle. What should I read?

Basically, I want to tear everything down and just start rebuilding, from the foundations. Hard to get started and not fall back into old ways.

Cannot afford therapy rn, p.s. also this is more of a self improvement thing than a thing where i am in a crisis.

three years pass...

Quite a good piece

A little late for the whole discourse, but I compiled a short list of my favorite "high-brow" self-help books https://t.co/orptzw5yRp
