Bloody Foreigners

Sir Bufton Tufton (rdmanston), Thursday, 29 August 2002 21:25 (twenty-one years ago) link

I would like to point out to you, Sir, that I have good reason to believe that you are foreign.

And, by the way, "P:Machinery" is one of my favourite singles EVAH, and has been since I first heard it in '86 or something. First, wondrous zapping with scary people chanting "MOTOR!" (not "mow-ter", "MO-TOR"!) and namechecking themselves, followed by an intro melody as simple and beautiful as any of Kraftwerk's, then CLAUDIA~! leads us through the Langscapes of the verse... and then the stroke of genius: a chorus (for it it is) consisting entirely of That Mad Yet Stately Synthy Gothic Gallop. Repeated a lot.

"Duel"? Pfffff. Bubblegum.

OleM (OleM), Thursday, 29 August 2002 21:54 (twenty-one years ago) link

kraftwerk were straight bubblegum!!! except their lackluster record trans europe express

simon trife (simon_tr), Friday, 30 August 2002 01:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

k,4 u're interesting comments, i dont want 2 get into the 12ztas12 anorak or claudia's cover 4 a "kiss like ether" 12" cover, its nice not 2 be alone. my morley/horn comment was about the proped-rippped samples post morley/shag/clads that they use for art-of-noise/fgth/depeche. p.s. i think goths are only seeking the to reach the levels of props (U CAN STAY AWAY FROM THIS,... SWEET SECRETS SOUNDS OF SIN... PUSH THIS ECHO IN THE OUTSIDE WORLD... FROZEN FACES). k 4 u're time, like 2 hear more.
