I guess you wouldn't find anyone who likes them (or Preussion Blue for that matter), but mainly that's for non-musical reasons.

Also, after the documentary from last year, I doubt many people who saw it hate Prussian Blue, as in the two little girls; I know my distaste for them was transposed fully onto their disgusting mother.

Did we do this? I know the opposite doesn't work, but I believe this has a better chance to work. It must be some adult contemporary act though, as they are the ones that "popists" and "rockists" unite on hating.
"Popists" always part with the kids, and have never had much interest in defending mainstream MOR acts with appeal mainly to housewives in their 50s.

In fact he is probably the one act I hate most of all, because of how he influenced hip-hop and a lot of other non-melodic styles.

People like Josh Groban and Il Divo just inspire indifference in me rather than active hate.

All I could find on ILM Search was one Michael Wells speaking up for "World Of Our Own" and one Lucy Lurex trying to defend them but I was convinced by neither.

God knows where the old thread is, and I think it was "an act which no-one likes" rather than "an act which everyone hates", but I do remember a consensus forming around Westlife and Creed.

Even my mum - who loves Westlife - cannot abide Kate Nash; she told her to calm down when she was hammering away on Jools Antichrist's Pre-Recorded New Year Farthornby Bonanza.

There are worse boybands out there than Westlife. That's as good a defence as I can muster. Better than 911. Go Westlife. I wouldn't go as far as to say I liked them, but there's not much there to dislike.

I seem to remember their version of 'Mandy' did very well on an FT Focus Group.

Westlife are like Boyzone without the harmonies and the slight sense of musicianship. Like a Boyzone who could never have written anything as good as "A Different Drum".

what else is there for them? only about a million things, past and present, equally bad or slightly better (in the latter category would come 'british light music' such as brian kay plays). hate the sin not the sinner, and unbelievably bad music (which westlife do produce) which is inexplicably successful is pretty hateful. it is very patronising tbh.

i mean asking 'what else is there for them?' is just factually wrong as well as unremittingly bleak.

Yes, there is lots. But, in the 'current' scheme of things, a lot of stuff is regarded as 'the oldies' i.e. hits of the sixties, or it's niche marketing.

I can't stand Manu Chao's stupid cap, but that's not quite the same thing. His music's OK or at least the first album was until he made the same album over and over.

Westlife were deliberately engineered by Cowell and Louisa Walsh as successors to Boyzone, to the extent that Keating even managed them in the early days. Nice polite boys who won't answer back, and the subsequent bunco booth trick of trying to convince us that they're as important as the Beatles whereas it was marketing and the cheapening of the charts which allowed them to have 97,422 number one hits.
