I am talk, the person the runs I love music board, doesn't like me or my music...so I can't post my name to show up anywhere to talk about music.

Here we go.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:13 (eighteen years ago) link

I love this woman's voice.
She is a great musician. You should hear this woman. The orange album is great.

They are very well known.

I have a good friend in New York City who recommended them ...her singing is outstanding.

mariesa sabriel, Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:14 (eighteen years ago) link

Most of my comments have been very positive about great artists...
even though I very positive about great musicians..my posts are being deleted and they archived a post about how I am crazy and worthless and made it show up in the Google search.
all I do is talk about great music on this board.

mariesa sabriel, Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:16 (eighteen years ago) link

I am not allowed to post my music here anymore. All my posts about my music are deleted. They mocked me and said my music is shit and made it show up in google search...mocking me that I don't have a record contract and that I am shit.

The people that run this board think because I am an independent aritsts..that I should not talk about myself on the net.
they are deleting my posts because I don't have a record contract.

I am over Mariesa's house today. She is such a cool lady.

I love her music .and I think she is going places with her life.

rob weir, Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:19 (eighteen years ago) link

The nurse is back. I must go. I am not allowed internet here in secure hospital.

mariesa sabriel, Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:20 (eighteen years ago) link

this is a fake post.
Mariesa is a beautiful woman, and I am over her house.

She is very talented and going somewhere in life.

You don't know her.

Her house is gorgeous, her piano is beautiful and most of all she is a talented person and beautiful.

You are jealous.

rob weir, Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:22 (eighteen years ago) link

Shhh... be quiet Rob. Everyone knows you are one of my other identities. I can control you and the others when I am fully medicated, but today I forgot my meds... bad luck for ILM

mariesa sabriel, Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:24 (eighteen years ago) link

You are a fake Mariesa. I am sitting here with Mariesa.

Mariesa is a gorgeous woman with a 4 bedroom house, two acres of land. A fifty thousand dollar studio. A new sports car .. a two car garage. She is a princess. I work with her.

I met her through my job.

We are dating.
You people have serious problems. Don't you have lives?

rob weir, Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:27 (eighteen years ago) link

Wha... she's going out with you too? But we're engaged to be married. And her such a catch and all with her $50000 studio and her 2 acres of land. Oh, wait - maybe I'm just another symptom of her mental illness... just like you, rob. I think you/we need help!

kevin smith, Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:30 (eighteen years ago) link

I think YOU are a symptom of mental illness.
Mariesa is a very stable, sane person.
You don't know her. Why are talking about a woman you don't know. anyway, she posted the Lisa Gerrard post. Why are insulting her if she is talking about loving music?

rob weir, Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:32 (eighteen years ago) link

why you insulting her if she is getting on the board complimenting someone and talking about music?

rob weir, Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:33 (eighteen years ago) link

Because 'you' write the same drivel in the same broken 'English' that she does. And you think that even one person here is falling for this nonsense for even one nanosecond, then you, rob/mariesa/whatever, are even less sane than we give you credit for.

Please fuck off back under whatever stone you all crawled from, get taking the medication again and STOP BOTHERING NORMAL PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE ANY INTEREST IN YOUR ONGOING MENTAL ILLNESSES.

mariesa sabriel, Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:35 (eighteen years ago) link

Rob weir is not my real name.
Mariesa doesn't type well. But I was born in Russia. I can't write in English. My broken English is a reason that I am not English.

You are insane

rob weir, Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:37 (eighteen years ago) link

you are mentally ill. Mariesa is a great musician. You ae jealous.

rob weir, Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:40 (eighteen years ago) link

to get back on topic, Lisa Gerrard's Immortal Memory is a really great album

Banana Nutrament (ghostface), Sunday, 11 December 2005 17:58 (eighteen years ago) link

Yes, I am constantly being insulted. Lisa has influenced me resently..and I am practicing with congas..and doing indian singing..not copying her exactly..but I want to record some music like this..
I really like her.

I think Lisa Gerrard should ease up on singing soulfully in the background of Hollywood "sword n sandal" epics. Unless that's not her and they hired clones for "Troy" and "Gladiator" etc.

Drew Daniel (Drew Daniel), Monday, 12 December 2005 04:38 (eighteen years ago) link

I think the only real difference between her DCD work & her sword-n-sandal work is cultural positioning

did you know there is no such person as Mariesa Sabriel..and the only people with talent in the world are people on labels.
Mariesa was just a nut, joke and crazy person.
The music world is great. go listen to signed people.

there is no such artist.
If Mariesa was talented ..she would be signed.

Baaderonixx weaves a daisy chain for... SATAN!! (baaderonixx), Monday, 12 December 2005 14:53 (eighteen years ago) link

I love how the first Dead Can Dance album is still somewhat rockist . . . "Wild In the Woods"! So good!

Also, has anybody else noticed that the guy in DCD sometimes sounds *eerily* like Barry Manilow? I mean that there's a particular tone in some of his vowels and some of his phrasing that just totally reminds me of Barry, I'm not just being a dick here.

Drew Daniel (Drew Daniel), Monday, 12 December 2005 19:43 (eighteen years ago) link

Preach it Scott! although the second Iron & Wine album is underrated by ppl (like me) who thought the first one was crap - song near the end called "Sodom, South Georgia" is really quite good

nine months pass...
this seems to be the only thread on Lisa Gerrard but it's full of... yeah. so, let's start again!

i just downloaded part of 'the mirror pool' and it's really gorgeous. i really enjoy the DCD that i have (spleen and ideal, a passage in time(comp.), into the labyrinth) - should i dive right on into her solo albums? tell me about them!

one of the reasons i love ILM is the deep historical archive.
tis a rare and beautiful thing.
such a rare and beautiful thing requires a soundtrack of sonic beauty.
if only there was something appropiate ...

mark e, Thursday, 10 December 2015 18:02 (eight years ago) link

I have been in a mad DCD/Gerrard mood throughout the second half of this year. What a great soundworld. I love knowing it's there for me to visit at will.

never heard anything before (by DCD or LG) getting this cd.
clearly i need more.
the use of vocal layers and detailed production is very much in line with another favourite of mine, untold things, by jocelyn pook.
who i believe has also done a lot of soundtrack work.

Loved DCD intensely for a few years around 1991. Then, unfortunately, heard them interviewed, heard the Neil Diamond songs on Into the Labyrinth and made the major error of watching Toward the Within ... in the space of a year they went from ascetic goth sonic alchemists, to credulous hippie "we like whatever is spiritual and don't want to think too hard about it" clunkers. It was the worst kind of falling out which retroactively poisoned the love I had for their previous work. It's taken me 20 years to even listen to their great early records again. "Frontier" will never tarnish though.

MatthewK, Friday, 11 December 2015 05:19 (eight years ago) link

I watched the documentary on her years ago and was really impressed, to me she seemed like someone from a future earth where everyone was way better.
I just loved that thing she said about getting over grief from a loved one dying by focusing on your capacity for love... or something like that, but it was definitely beautiful!

Have people started calling DCD grand demons of appropriation or is their deep research of other cultures getting respect?

In my mind, I always compared DCD, probably unfairly, with the Cocteau Twins. They suffered by the comparison.
