this thread needs greater focus. i will pose some questions:

does bushwick have any good solo albums? what is his solo output like?

do you think bushwick had the weakest delivery of the GB's?

do you think bushwick was the funniest writer in the GB's?

what bushwich tracks - GB or otherwise - do you enjoy?

I resent the implication that "pleasuring" me is somehow less pleasant or desireable an option than pleasuring Willie D or Scarface. I am an excellent lover who's always attentive to my partner's needs, and I'm told that I'm a good conversationalist. No one with whom I've been romantically involved has found my small stature off-putting, or something to be "gotten past"; all my former lovers speak fondly of me. Except for my wife, who shot me in the eye.

Bushwick's delivery is great on "Bushmotherfuckingwick" (2001) because it starts out with a really great rhythm, only then he loses it and doesn't bother trying to re-find it, and the effect is kinda scary. It contains the line "I swear on my life & my one good eye/all you motherfuckers die."

His solo disc No Surrender has a couple of good songs and one of the worst album covers of all time.

how about a collabo j0hn?

christhamrin (christhamrin), Friday, 18 June 2004 15:49 (nineteen years ago) link

Are you his manager? I'd give my left eye to have Bushwick drop a verse on my next record

Hey I have a question. In that one Geto Boys album cover that shows Bill being rushed through the hospital by the other guys after getting shot, is that a recreation of events, or did they actually take the photo when it all was actually going down?

Dan I., Friday, 18 June 2004 20:05 (nineteen years ago) link

-1 "actually", take your pick which.

"Now you see this one-eyed midget
Shouting the word "NOW"
And you say, "For what reason?"
And he says, "How?"
And you say, "What does this mean?"
And he screams back, "You're a cow
Give me some milk
Or else go home"
Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?"

j0hn, a big ol' dylan freak (a full-on dylanologist, you could say) told me the song is a series of tableaux of gay life. he also argued the cover of highway 61 has more than a few 'mo signifiers in it, esp the dude in tight jeans and bowery/sailor shirt, hand on hip, behind him. and what's he wearing, a kimono?

So apparently Bill has recommitted his life to Jesus and is working on a gospel album?

New tracks on MySpace include "Testimony of Redemption," "Going to the River," and "Praise of A Good Woman."

Phantom of the Rapra is clearly the strongest (funniest?) solo outing. The intro cut is worth the price of the record.

Yeah, Bushwick Bill became a hardcore christian a couple of years ago. He also released a Christian-theme mixtape around 2004/2005

Sad about this. I consider him a singular talent, one who made plenty of later tracks that didn't really get a lot of love outside of people who'd already been on board for years. Hard life by most accounts. I'm the same age as him; I remember buying the "Do It Like a G.O." cassingle when it was new (the Def version, I mean) and being knocked out. Rest easy Bill.
