and yes, i know. it's spelled like that on both the cover and the spine so i assume it's not an error. 'killing that which is the same' would be one possible interpretation, and a likely one given mike's idealogical leanings.

I got the vinyl just the other day, cept it most definitely says HOMICIDE on it, and has a live-type photo on the cover. It's all great, partcularly the mentalist one with the pitched up soul vocal.

two years pass...

Okay, Negrophilia was supposed to come out TODAY, yet still no evidence of it online (I'll check the store tonight). Of course the only Thirsty Ear release I'm still excited about would be the one that mysteriously never gets released.

One of my friends is friends with Mike, and he made the new one sound pretty cool. Apparently Mike wrote the tunes, gave them to the Thirsty Ear crew to record, then took their recordings and re-fucked them up himself (as opposed to the El-P method of making a couple of loops, letting the jazz musicians noodle over them and slapping your name on the record).

So, Negrophilia is finally out. It has some moments, but I'm largely underwhelmed. Everything I've heard from Nostalgiator hits harder, and themes/hooks are largely non-existent. I've only listened to it once or twice though.
