Favorite moments:
Larry commenting inappropriately on Mary in the Nativity scene.
Cheri Oteri singing the Looney Tunes song and mentioning that her suitcase doesn't have wheels.
The restaurant swear-fest. (this was a lot funnier than it probably should have been)
Larry's confused look, watching club soda and salt being applied to his wife's blouse.

This show is way better than Seinfeld.

there are some funny subtle details, like Leon writing LEON across his 7/11 Big Gulp, even though Larry is the last person in the world who would touch a mystery Big Gulp

I was about to come back and say wait didn't funkhauser just die too but that was 5 years ago. Time means nothing these days. I blame COVID.

feel like the last few seasons have all been like that - first few episodes drag, then it gets good after that

definitely seems like he's gonna re-do the last episode of Seinfeld - I think every episode so far has had a pretty overt reference to the show (Ted Danson and the pen this week) - also Larry saying "I could go to jail for a year!" kinda gives it away

sometime during the 2000s, Spirit airlines had celebrities record the airline safety information that would be played before takeoff. Richard Lewis was one of them and it was so hilarious they even allowed his to be played. I remember the part during the "in case of a water landing" section and he makes a crack that was essentially "you're dead if that scenario even happened."

its got to end with some link between him getting free of Irma but then going to jail or having to chose between supporting Irma or jail, and him choosing going to jail.

final pay off will be him in jail with the guy he gave the jacket to in episode 2, who hates him now....

except RFK wasn't running when this was written/filmed, also I don't think it's really well known that Cheryl is married to him? but yeah it's pretty strange.

last episode was kind of strange in that you had Conan playing himself, but Steve Buscemi also pops up *not* playing himself, although he's not a character in the show

I'm definitely very curious how it's all gonna end. obviously Seinfeld's finale was considered a dud which I know is a bit of a sore spot for Larry, so its kind of interesting how hard he's telegraphing that the exact same thing is gonna happen in Curb. in fact he's been telegraphing it so hard that I'm convinced there's gonna be some major bait and switch here. at first I thought he's gonna die somehow in the finale but they already did that way back in like Season 5 right?

tbh I'm not sure how Seinfeld should've ended either, dealing with finality in a show where the characters never change and a bunch of plots just go unresolved (didnt Kramer get a girl pregnant in one episode and it was just never mentioned again?) must be pretty difficult. though I kind of wonder, did people think it was that disappointing at the time? I mean just binging through the show it's pretty lame but at the time bringing back all those characters and catchphrases must've been pretty cool.

I liked the premise of the Seinfeld finale indicting the cast as villains all along but the execution came off as a pandering catchphrase-laden victory lap, but the fatwa season inverted that premise (Larry being tried and judged to be the hero the entire time... in the eyes of Iran's secret police!) and I think that worked much better!

Right and that one brought back a bunch of minor characters so I can’t imagine he'll do that again

Best to treat it as a sitcom that happens to have season-long arcs, rather than expecting in to culminate in some multi-season culmination.

yes but only as of this season and it's his first post-Seinfeld endeavor that actually works out. outside of appearing in the Producers I think?

New episode is a doozie…couple of great guest appearances too

all caught up for the finale tonight, these plotlines are getting increasingly contrived and I can't help but notice how much they resemble the King's Quest games. so you have to take the masseuse to meet Bruce Springsteen in order to get her to drop a sexual harrassment claim? alright, whatever

also kinda feels like a bunch of this episode got cut out, weird they kept referencing the zipper thing with no real payoff, also the Ken/Kendra thing was pretty weird

Richard Lewis Mercedes scenes were hard to watch

I don't watch many TV series, so it's wild to remember watching this for the first time so long ago. Missed S1, and now checking the dates on S2 am amazed it's Sept-Nov 2001, post-9/11.

Yeah I remember my mom and uncle geeking out over this and me thinking it was really boring lol

well that was about what I expected, appreciated the little meta twist there

did think it was odd that the plotline with Richard Lewis's girlfriend was never resolved, seemed possible that she actually was gonna murder him

yeah that would’ve been great. also missed opportunity for an extra seinfeld finale tie-in to have their plane nearly crash (would’ve been accidentally topical too with the boeing stuff in the news)

leon watching seinfeld was the funniest

I thought when it was revealed that Leon was watching Seinfeld that he would get all the way up to the finale, come up with some really dumb idea of how they could've gotten out of it, only to have it work in the Curb universe. or it would backfire tremdendously.

Yeah, that makes a ton of sense, as a way to have that Leon-watching-Seinfeld work pay off in a plot way. The plots this season were so sloppy in that way (someone mentioned the zipper, too), but hey, still fun.

this was one of the best seasons in years imo. definitely went out on a high note
