because they feel like they're supposed to. Because if they don't ask, then they'll feel worse about themselves because they aren't acting like they're "supposed" to. Maybe they want to care, but they just can't (or don't care as much as they "should") because they're caught up in their own internal bullshit. Or maybe they just aren't the greatest people in the world?

I mean, I have no idea about the specific people you refer to, but maybe those are motivations for the general "these people"?

Well yeah. How can a pre-teen not? The so called "popular people" are like this. Just yesterday, one of the girls said to me, "Can I use your book?"

"No." I said

"Why not?!"

"I'm using it."

She rolled her eyes at me.

It's her fault she didn't bring her book to class, not mine.

I don't care if she likes me. She's nice sometimes, but she talks a lot in class, screams, is rude, gets in trouble, and lies all the time. I've known her since kindergarden. I do not want to be one of her "close" friends.

I know more people like this.

There was a boy I knew who always had to make a joke out of something. Most of the jokes were hurtful towards certain people. He has a best friend who does the same. He used to go to my school up untill last week. His best friend is still at my school. I sit next ot him in Social Studies class.
