tbh a lot of ilx threads seem to be people listing off generalized types of people that irritate them all the time

yeah this feels like it's been really common recently

irrationally angry thread = one example of how ilx reminds me not to be irrationally angry, or even angry in general, tbh

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 30 September 2010 14:03 (thirteen years ago) link

i feel like on those kind of threads some people start of just thinking it's a bit of fun and then post enough to convince themselves that they are really angry about this stuff and then they're like "oooh you're making me MAD just thinking about it!!!!"

caek, Thursday, 30 September 2010 14:06 (thirteen years ago) link

that thread, jeez

48. people who have to think things over once they get to the register. you're there, fucking buy something.

the thing i don't get about those threads is like, why would i want to put effort into thinking about things that annoy me when they're not actively annoying me?

the thread's just a bit of fun, really. it's interesting to see what common experiences/irritants we all share, I don't think everybody truly goes bat crazy IRL everytime the above happens.

young people trying to change the world with fury and words and a sock to the jaw of the status quo = free pass in my book

would rather they tried to change the world with a brain. passion is the most wrongly fetishized used and abused cultural quality i can think of.
