here is what i know about knoxville: this weather is ruling it today!

if fappers are around this weekend, i could do something probly any evening. i find myself blissfully unscheduled.

i am around on saturday...

saturday would be good. i might be hiking during the day, but i'll be back by drink-time.

i will be around all day. just let me know.

i seem to have friday and saturday clear, though i may check into greekfest one of those nights. anyway, tipsy, lemme know if plans are made.

so how about 7-ish on Saturday? place preference? it's supposed to be nice, so urban bar patio might be a possibility. but i'm open.

Saturday at 7 at Urban would be fine by me - $3 well cocktails until 9.

i'll be there. i have a soccer game sunday, so i have to keep it low-key, but i'll take any excuse to sit outside on a nice fall evening.

I have to keep it pretty low key as well. I am wedging this between out of town deejay gigs int what was my recuperating at home day. Still, I can have some cocktails and conversation without getting so drunk I am throwing my garnishes at trucks passing by.

to assist in your recuperation, we will speak in low murmurs and mte will do his famous babbling-brook impersonation.

that one used bookstore might not even be there in december. it's closing sometime soon and the owner is moving to a different place in north knox. (assuming you mean book eddy.)

yep. just out there last week. they gave me 80 bucks for some books and cds. the place seems like it's always packed.

and the new book eddy isn't going to be the book eddy, exactly. he's taking a sort of different approach. it'll be smaller (the old corner lounge space) and i think will have some new stuff mixed in with the used. he's ditching a huge amount of his inventory (a lot of it's going to mckay's, i think).

i think that's tbd. actually it still sounds like a lot of it is tbd.

the last time i went to cat's it felt weirdly barren and unloved.

CATS was the worst store in the world.

when it was still "cat's records and tapes" it was pretty great :(

in that same little shopping center there was briefly a FANTASTIC used record store whose name i can't remember. i got some bill withers, yazoo, and human league singles there for less than $10 total one time.

that is the store where i work. lost and found records.

it was there for eight or so years and then moved to the strip for a while and is now on walker blvd./broadway. lost and found has been around for over fifteen years now but briefly closed in the early 2000's cause of ebay ruining the record store game temporarily.

ha, i actually walked out of my friend's apartment at the emporium right into the middle of that shoot.

good use of the new flying bus station there. not sure how actually useful that place is, but it looks pretty cool at night.

i had a weird knoxville dream last night!

i was supposed to meet tipsy at market square for a cocktail but i kept running into every person in the world i knew on my way. every single person i past was someone i knew which made me embarrassingly late. when i finally arrived, tipsy was sitting with a panel of news reporters and interviewing bill landry who was making balloon animals outside the tomato head.

nothing about that seems unlikely, really...

I love McKays. Been there every Christmas after first being taken to it. Crazy amount of Book Club printings of 60s/70s sci-fi hardbacks for cheaps.
