I think Scarface's voice is at its most powerful on Diary -- whereas on the other albums, including The Fix, he often went for a gruff, more aggressive tone, he delivers so much of this album in a booming, smooth baritone...giving the feel of a veteran of the streets who has seen it all and is telling his stories to the younger street generation. It's almost like sage Scarface.

it is kinda weird to see san te acting like some O.G. to balls IMO

tbh i can't remember much of made beyond 'girl you know' (BANGER) but yeah i imagine it's similar.

Scarface is just one of those artists (much like UGK) that just dutifully put out quality album after quality album -- not all classics, but all top notch.

did any other rapper manage the transition from the 90s to the 00's so well? probably helps that, like you said upthread a bit, he has always positioned himself as this veteran reflecting on street life. in some respects he's been making "old map rap" his entire career. xxp
