LITTLE LAMB [Jon Williams] (ex machina), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:25 (twenty years ago) link

That is the tangible version of what I am doing. Thanks, Jon. You guys will only get a .pdf of that though.

dean! (deangulberry), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:32 (twenty years ago) link

I saw Black Dice last year, they were an abomination. Why are they supposed to be good? Or maybe they just had an off night?

udu wudu (udu wudu), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:33 (twenty years ago) link

never seen billy childish live...could go.

x-post: was it at the garage udu, bcz i was at that (not that great).

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:34 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah the Garage gig...wtf was it supposed to be? I thought £12 was a bit steep really for 45 minutes of dithering "experimentation". The experiments had already been conducted, consolidated and filed away by people who knew what they were doing (i.e. This Heat).

udu wudu (udu wudu), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:42 (twenty years ago) link

(watching jon and i get proven 4230% correct)

dean! (deangulberry), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:46 (twenty years ago) link

Instal03 gig is on slsk - very good too. I can imagine this killing in the studio.

dleone (dleone), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 20:01 (twenty years ago) link

What did you search for to find that on slsk?

original bgm, Wednesday, 17 March 2004 20:06 (twenty years ago) link

You know, I don't even remember - but I'm sharing it as "Vooredoms - Live Instal03 - Nov 2003" (dleone).

dleone (dleone), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 20:10 (twenty years ago) link

It's the BBC broadcast, and also features a short interview with Eye via his interpreter.

dleone (dleone), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 20:11 (twenty years ago) link

Thanks dleone... I can't browse your files for some reason and a couple variations on a 'vooredoms' search didn't find anything either. Ah well.

original bgm, Thursday, 18 March 2004 06:08 (twenty years ago) link

Much respect for the heads up, though!

original bgm, Thursday, 18 March 2004 06:09 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah, for some reason, people have trouble browsing my files. I have no idea why. I can add you to my user list if that would help, even though my files are supposed to be available to anyone.

dleone (dleone), Thursday, 18 March 2004 06:45 (twenty years ago) link

I'll IM ya now...

[19:58:19] Lieutenant Panda: Well I heard "in a star" and "in the sun"
[19:58:28] Lieutenant Panda: and some Japanese I didn't understand
[19:58:33] Lieutenant Panda: or I think it was Japanese
[19:59:13] Lieutenant Panda: now they're saying "in the sun" over and over again

Lil' Won Jilliams (ex machina), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 23:59 (twenty years ago) link

sounds like the same v00redoms material from previous shows although
"super are" has that "ouine ni oisharu ni, ine aruka IN THE SUN" line, the "in the sun" bit reprised on the 9th track on VCN.

when EY3 moved (the band?) to okinawa after the boredoms broke up, there were rumors of sun-god cult worship.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 00:05 (twenty years ago) link

Gygax, I wasn't posting about the show, my roomie is just on drugs and listening to BOREDOMS.

Lil' Won Jilliams (ex machina), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 00:06 (twenty years ago) link

so you're saying he may as well have been at scala?

''i hate you!!!!!!!!!!!!!''

wolf eyes are playing at the spitz tonight.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:18 (twenty years ago) link

Wolf Eyes are a dime a dozen compared to the Lightning Bolts and Boredoms of the world.

Seeing Wolf Eyes = seeing Sonic Youth today
Seeing Boredoms = seeing Kraftwerk today

sort of

Lil' Won Jilliams (ex machina), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:58 (twenty years ago) link

wolf eyes is quite tempting, it's 10 quid though and i have no desire to see black dice again, and i'm not convinced wolf eyes are worth 10 quid on their own.

also, i just bought the last two tickets to the lightning bolt gig on friday :-)

last night: lightning bolt might be the best live band i've ever seen. the 5 mins or so i spent down the front were easily the most intense but also most fun experience i've had at a concert - everyone jumping around like crazy, but no aggression. fantastic. anna loved them too.

black dice - better than last time i saw them. still a bit dull though. we were sat down and it all felt a bit weird.

boredoms - amazing. i kinda presume the stuff at the beginning with the microphone was just miming, but whatever, still an incredible bit of stagemanship. and it just carried on being great. more bands need 3 drummers.

so yeah, it was good. i kinda feel like i'm not praising it enough, but i don't really know how to...

Lightning Bolt at the ICA this Friday - spare ticket
