eight months pass...

i'm completely in love with "We Live in Brooklyn Baby" (heard it on the W+L/Soul Clap 5 Years at the Marcy mix) and i'm hoping that its indicative of how incredibly awesome the rest of the guy's output is b/c i'm really looking forward to gorging on it asap. just judging by album titles alone i am super excited. that and the fact that he specialized in the vibraphone

this album is pretty good, mellow jazz-funk with a pronounced jesus freak vibe (the "he" who's coming) also includes "we live in brooklyn baby"

disappointed by that album on first listen. "we live in brooklyn baby" is so slinky and hungry... the rest of the album seemed meh. its driving me crazy that i can't think of what song sampled the wiggly keyboard bit from "he's a superstar", though.

Really should have grabbed the rest of the reissues whenever that was. I mean to be a fan of this type of stuff and not have all the early 70s Ubiquity really shouldn't be done should it?

I just saw that the lp before Ubiquity has Sonny Sharrock on so wondering how feral he is in th egroove.

Could do with an Original album series of that early stuff. BUt is it more likely to be later 70s material that would get one?
