But I've got a left midfielder who, when I play him wide in a 3-5-2, the assistant manager and the formation board insist that he's out of position. Think the engine might treat the wide dudes in that formation as very advanced wing backs or something.

To be fair you want the wide midfielders in that set-up to be covering back and he is a bit lavender in the tackle, like.
