three weeks pass...
what sounds like the finished version of this has leaked. anyone else heard it? thoughts?

It flows well. It doesn't sound like an album patched together after someone's death, so I'm inclined to believe them when they say that the record was basically done except for the mixing. It's not a smooth or overly produced sounding album either; the fidelity and tracking sounds like more time was spent on it than, say, either/or, but it's not a lush studio package like XO. It's not hopelessly sad, it doesn't really make me maudlin; it sounds alive, like another good solid release in Elliott's catalogue. For a few seconds listening to it yesterday I thought "these songs are going to sound great live with a band!" before I remembered.

controversial comment: King's Crossing sounds like Bright Eyes.

also, there are only 15 tracks on this (and one of them is just some bird noises), and since the original word was that there was enough material for a double (and even the press release above stated there are 19 tracks), I'm sure there will be one more album.

twelve years pass...

I love this cover of "Little One" by Sky Ferreira and the dude from DIIV. can't stand DIIV but I love SF and hope her new record isn't frozen in legal limbo anymore...
