"Allegedly Sexy" would be a good Rod Stewart album title (cover art could have a courtroom scene with a hot female witness pointing a finger at Rod)

i like matt mcconaughey despite his career pretty much, esp how to lose a dude which really is an abomination, i always found it funny/bizarre that apparently he like totally crossed the line hitting on rachel dratch when he hosted snl whenever, groping etc. wtf mcconaughey?

Clearly his metier is either playing dumb hunks in romantic comedies (for which he has a modest talent) or servicing Norma Desmond types.

that picture ned posted up the top is just horrible. muscles make me want to puke but, sweet mother of jebus, he was hot in dazed and confused. yeah, just like that photo up there. i usually dont like blondes one bit but i like him a whole lot. and he has a very pleasing name. he takes an excruciatingly long time to get to the point when hes being interviewed though.

He seems to essentially be Wooderson in real life. All he wants to do is drive around with his Aistream, get drunk and meet women. A fine use of one's celebrity. (I guess that makes him the low-rent George Clooney in some ways?)

j blount (papa la bas), Wednesday, 16 November 2005 18:44 (eighteen years ago) link

i buy the arguement.

a) physically he's above average- looks are nice, strong, tall, healthy looking. polite and soft spoken but hunky and confident. most likely well-endowed.

b) professionally- he seems to avoid all controversy or challenge, co-stars with actresses that most women can relate to. very agreeable.

c) personal life made public- laid back, avoids fame but lives in style and comfort, intriguing. total stoner and mellow guy that just wants to have fun, to savor life, to please. he's unpretentious, subscribes to some kind of spirituality, a bit aloof.

he's a typical pleasure model

Maybe I was in the wrong mood, or maybe it's that the trailer sets you up for a different movie, but White Boy Rick seemed quite pointless to me. On the bright side, it's the first time since King of New York I've heard Schoolly-D at the movies (albeit at least a year off on a timeline).

the synopsis for his new one (SERENITY) is uh....

SPOILERS

The film takes place on a fishing island. Fisherman Baker Dill receives strange visions. Businessman Reid Miller is chasing after Baker with urgent news. Baker’s ex-wife Karen suddenly appears and tasks Baker with killing Frank, her abusive husband. Baker appears to have a telepathic connection with Patrick, the son he had with Karen, and through that decides to put aside his goal of catching a large tuna called “Justice” to help Karen and Patrick.

When Reid finds Baker, he explains he works as a fishing equipment company sales rep, and wants to give him a complimentary fish tracker. However Reid inadvertently reveals to Baker that he is a character in a video game Patrick is playing. The real Baker died during a war, and his son has reprogrammed a fishing video game to live out a fantasy of killing his abusive step-father. The digital Baker is communicating with Patrick through the game’s code. Digital Baker decides to follow his son’s wishes and kill the abusive step-father.

It turns out the scenes of Patrick playing the game were not flashbacks, but concurrent. Just after digital Baker kills the digital stepfather, Patrick picks up a knife to finally confront the real-life abusive step-father who has been beating his mother in the next room for years.

see i appreciate that this can still happen and not everything is focus-grouped into tasteful blandness. this isn't "the room" or anything but i like that there can still be movies that are bad in an entertaining way as opposed to just boring
