Mr Thorpe really going to town on that guitar there.

Duncan Donuts (Ned Trifle II), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 15:40 (thirteen years ago) link

That Jeremy Thorpe one is classic!

They weren't "adversaries" at the time... but, fuck it, it's just a great photo:

Fjellestad directed a documentary about Moog in which Wakeman and Worrell performed and conversed with Moog about how much they loved the design of the Minimoog.

saville and elvis is the best yet. superb.

Googling reveals that Jimmy Saville hosted Top of the Pops. Why is it strange for him to have posed with Elvis?

jaymc, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 17:31 (thirteen years ago) link

Well, Elvis never did Top of the Pops, having only been in the UK once. Is probably not that strange a photo, but Savile himself is v.v.v. strange, so anything involving him at all has insta-weird overtones.

ailsa, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 17:33 (thirteen years ago) link

^ yeah

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 17:35 (thirteen years ago) link

Was trying to figure out if the other person in the photo with them was also a celebrity: Isabella Rosellini? Freddie Mercury? but came up short.

Lohan, Brit and Paris all in the same place at the same time and the universe didn't collapse in on itself? That's the equivalent of the Dane Cook, Jeremy Piven, Kid Rock photo upthread.

this thread is worth its weight in gold

Cunga, Wednesday, 8 September 2010 07:53 (thirteen years ago) link

and I like to imagine Paul Simon and Lou Reed are arguing about who's more responsible for lame indie rock cliches.

Cunga, Wednesday, 8 September 2010 08:00 (thirteen years ago) link

Is Kiedis purposely trying to look like Iggy Pop now?

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 8 September 2010 08:04 (thirteen years ago) link

Kubrick & Weegee photo is so awesome!

Elvis Telecom, Wednesday, 8 September 2010 11:11 (thirteen years ago) link

Kubrick was a New Yorker and worked as photographer in the late 1940s, so it's not that unexpected to see a photo of the two.
