Celtic Frost's impact on the evolution of European heavy metal cannot be overstated. Along with power metal kings Helloween (and to a lesser degree, the sometimes cartoonish Mercyful Fate), Frost's enduring influence on Europe's heavy metal landscape is arguably comparable to Metallica's standing in America. I have the two aforementioned Celtic Frost albums, and while they're interesting, have had trouble getting into 'em. Opeth has a nice cover of "Circle of the Tyrants" on My Arms, Your Hearse.

Sadly in 88 they made a hair metal album (maybe johnny fever likes it,but noone did), but they made a terrific comeback album a few years ago.

what in tarnation are so many boris albums doing in the top 100? they're a pretty good band, but they're not THAT good. their albums are WAY too spotty, especially heavy rocks! 1970, the last song on that album, imo should have been #1 in the tracks poll, but the album is NOT as good as that song.

Celtic Frost are basically my real-metal-fan touchstone, and thus my real-metal-poll arbiter, as well. (Not that there aren't others just as defensible. Or almost, anyway.) I got caught up enough wondering whether I was pleased to them in the top 50 or irritated that those albums weren't higher that I momentarily forgot I know all the poll results already!
