Never got into Celtic Frost. Probably totally unrelated, but I always lumped them together in my mind with Iced Earth and Hammerfall. Could not explain why (except that Frost + Ice are both cold things).

Mordy, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:15 (thirteen years ago) link

I have general dislike for Zeppelin, but I like In through the out door, mainly for the song Carouselambra. The rest of their catalogue is very spotty, in my opinion.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:15 (thirteen years ago) link

xp to Mordy--yeah I think a lot of people think that Zep was a bit repetitive and monochromatic sometimes, and it made listening to all their albums kind of tiresome...I ended up picking two or three (I, III, & IV) and not fuck with most of the rest....

demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:15 (thirteen years ago) link

you can be monochromatic when you are painting with the awesomest colors

How could you forget the crazy hooker? (HI DERE), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:16 (thirteen years ago) link

no doubt, but there's a lot of awesome colors in music. even Monet gets boring

Mordy, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:18 (thirteen years ago) link

I think Zepplin monochromaticism is wildly overstated, anyway

How could you forget the crazy hooker? (HI DERE), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:21 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh, I probably voted for them all, except maybe II. I'd've even slung Coda and The Song Remains The Same a couple of points if they'd been nommed. I haven't heard 'How The West Was Won' - why wasn't it nominated?!

I do like a bit of Zep.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:23 (thirteen years ago) link

Morbid Tales is (I think) my favourite. (awaits someone telling me I gave more points to To Megatherion).

for the 2nd or 3rd time on these polls it's people with led zep II hate. bizarre.

love the Soul Train type lettering of the album title...

demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:32 (thirteen years ago) link

Except I didn't vote for ANY Funkadelic!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:32 (thirteen years ago) link

Hating on Zeppelin is like hating on Nirvana X 100, only with a 40 year head start.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:35 (thirteen years ago) link

I voted for this.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:36 (thirteen years ago) link

I like Zeppelin a lot! I just know what Mordy means...and I think their second album sucks

demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:39 (thirteen years ago) link

people hating led zep II on a metal poll thread just seems weird

Huh. Well, I guess there has to be room for a few more of them, but ... still ...

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:54 (thirteen years ago) link

Terrible placing here. I voted it #8. Makes no sense.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:54 (thirteen years ago) link

would be a boring poll if only 3 or 4 bands were in the top 20

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:58 (thirteen years ago) link

Be curious how many repeats are in the top 10.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 21:00 (thirteen years ago) link

its a secret!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 21:03 (thirteen years ago) link

Not if they were Godflesh, Corrupted, Napalm Death and Celtic Frost. xpost.

Shocked at its low placing.

There's just no rational explanation for this so ok lets get this out in the open - how many members of Celtic Frost voted in this poll?

^ their avant garde album

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 21:47 (thirteen years ago) link

NOT ENOUGH (NB I was not in Celtic Frost. Well, not for long anyway.)

Hey Jabulani! Pope of four four two. (aldo), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 21:50 (thirteen years ago) link

I'd say it was a pretty good placing. Wouldn't expect it to be any higher on ilx, the avant-gardists like LJ didn't vote.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 21:56 (thirteen years ago) link

LJ is still in the huff because this next album didn't place...
