dan, can you Please change the thread title to let ez snappin and the rest of ILM that the top 100 countdown is starting and that It's a GAPDYX free zone?

I feel like Bullhead deserves a de-luxe 20th anniversary edition or something. Awesome album.

Fastnbulbous, Tuesday, 10 August 2010 20:37 (thirteen years ago) link

how's that

people are for loving (HI DERE), Tuesday, 10 August 2010 20:38 (thirteen years ago) link

I'm listening to Slough Feg. The vocals may take a bit of getting used to, but I can see myself becoming a fan for sure. Also they are named after a 2000 AD character.

Yes Dan, I will still be leaving Fudge Tunnel and Been Caught Buttering well alone.

you are missing a brilliant band if you dont listen to fudge tunnel (they are not dm or grind or anything. Kinda alt-sludge.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 10 August 2010 20:41 (thirteen years ago) link

the title's hitting the character limit so entering anything about GAPDYX had to be positive

that's my story and I'm sticking to it

people are for loving (HI DERE), Tuesday, 10 August 2010 20:42 (thirteen years ago) link

thread TITLE needs a NO GAPDYX! (which is less than eternal gapdyx)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 10 August 2010 20:42 (thirteen years ago) link

I think I knew Fudge Tunnel were alt-sludge, but if I'm going to listen to a band like that, it will have a name like "Lard" or "Godflesh" and not "Fudge Tunnel"

people are for loving (HI DERE), Tuesday, 10 August 2010 20:43 (thirteen years ago) link

Bullhead is still available with Boner's original master, which sounds puny and weak when I mix it in with all of Melvins' later stuff. I'm not saying it should be clipped, but the difference is so bad my auto playback volume level is useless.

Fastnbulbous, Tuesday, 10 August 2010 20:44 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah. there are totally sludge options.

What is GAPDYX please?

rhythm fixated member (chap), Tuesday, 10 August 2010 21:09 (thirteen years ago) link

it's an acronym for the hot critical darling bands of 2009:

Grizzly Bear
Animal Collective
Phoenix
Dirty Projectors
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
XX

it really has nothing to do with this poll

people are for loving (HI DERE), Tuesday, 10 August 2010 21:11 (thirteen years ago) link

ryan pitchfork had all 6 in his P&J ballot iirc. ILXors got really pissed off with gapdy in every poll (they loved the xx)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 10 August 2010 21:13 (thirteen years ago) link

too low fiends at the ready?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 10 August 2010 21:14 (thirteen years ago) link

Mentioning this list of worthies:
Grizzly Bear
Animal Collective
Phoenix
Dirty Projectors
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
XX

... in the same breath as a behemoth like Sabotage is heartbreaking.

people are for loving (HI DERE), Tuesday, 10 August 2010 21:16 (thirteen years ago) link

TOO LOW!!!!!!!

as was discussed over in the "Modern Metal" thread or whatever it is called, it's a common theme that this album is hugely influential on all that came after.

Hello all. So, I see we have classic Sabbath and Motörhead records right here - did you decide to start with 1 and go up to 100? 'Cuz I could totally see these as 1 & 2, even if I didn't vote for either.

Fastnbulbous, Tuesday, 10 August 2010 21:31 (thirteen years ago) link

SABOTAGE WAY TOO LOW although I didn't actually vote for it thinking about it, but I should have for side 1 alone.
