TWO?!?!?!
― visit europe more (acoleuthic), Monday, 9 August 2010 22:35 (thirteen years ago) link
Celestial (The Tower) is a mega groovy song. The rest of the album is quite good too, but I'd say the next two albums are slightly better. None of them are all-time #1 material though, surely? Hmm, may have to relisten...
― visit europe more (acoleuthic), Monday, 9 August 2010 22:36 (thirteen years ago) link
yup, two #1 votes.

well. so it didn't make the top 100 eh?
― gman59, Monday, 9 August 2010 22:48 (thirteen years ago) link
indeed, and johnny fevers not happy about that

With a few exceptions, this list has been mostly populated by a bunch of serious, unfun bullshit. Why does metal fans hate fun? Is fun false?
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 9 August 2010 23:05 (thirteen years ago) link
chuck didn't vote
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 9 August 2010 23:09 (thirteen years ago) link
There has been an Anthrax album. Isn't Anthrax fun?
― more lunacy and witchcraft! (kkvgz), Monday, 9 August 2010 23:11 (thirteen years ago) link
For whom is the Anthrax fun? Perhaps for HI DEREs. For Johnny it is a place of fear and confusion.
― more lunacy and witchcraft! (kkvgz), Monday, 9 August 2010 23:14 (thirteen years ago) link
johnny wanted more Poison,Motley Crue,Kix, Cinderella,Winger,Warrant, nelson,tesla,bon jovi etc
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 9 August 2010 23:14 (thirteen years ago) link
I voted for that Anthrax album, btw.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 9 August 2010 23:17 (thirteen years ago) link
And I would NEVER vote for Winger.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 9 August 2010 23:18 (thirteen years ago) link
Or Nelson.
Or Warrant.
Not because they're not fun, but because they're terrible.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 9 August 2010 23:19 (thirteen years ago) link
What do you mean by serious, unfun bullshit?
― visit europe more (acoleuthic), Monday, 9 August 2010 23:23 (thirteen years ago) link
This is the most fun Anthrax album, but I don't know if it was nommed:

^ is great!!
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 9 August 2010 23:25 (thirteen years ago) link
Was Sound of White Noise nommed? Used to like that one - more of a hard rock than a thrash record though.
― rhythm fixated member (chap), Monday, 9 August 2010 23:26 (thirteen years ago) link
Most of this poll's results are the metal equivalent of indie's current obsession with the likes of Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, etc. Joyless, musician-y deliberate seriousness at the expense of any color. To which I say, pbbbbbbbbbbblttttttt!

NAME NAMES

johnny hasn't listened to metal for 20 years yet is surprised people have moved on?
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 9 August 2010 23:31 (thirteen years ago) link
I like Deftones. And, um, whoever's making thrash nowadays that sounds like vintage thrash.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 9 August 2010 23:34 (thirteen years ago) link
retro johnny is the anti lj

― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 9 August 2010 23:36 (thirteen years ago) link
Well, what finally set me off were the two Earth albums in a row, then Isis and Godflesh. That's a perfect cross-section of the results as a whole, methinks. And again I say pbbbbbbbbbbblttttttt!
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 9 August 2010 23:36 (thirteen years ago) link
^ LJ's fave run so far

so you mean good music that hasn't been in any way indicative of this poll as a whole set you off on one
― visit europe more (acoleuthic), Monday, 9 August 2010 23:37 (thirteen years ago) link
jesus wept
also Earth and Godflesh aren't in ANY WAY musician-y acts o_O

"Dig those chops! That guy just played his third chord this minute!"
I'm just saying that if I wanted to put myself in a good mood and the choice of album was between Streetcleaner and Out of the Cellar, I would go with the latter 1000 out of 1000 times.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 9 August 2010 23:39 (thirteen years ago) link
Is Godflesh vs Ratt really a relevant argument?
― A prog venn diagram for you to think about (Matt #2), Monday, 9 August 2010 23:40 (thirteen years ago) link
Would go for Ratt btw
If I wanted to put myself in a good mood, I probably wouldn't even think to listen to Streetcleaner for fucking out loud
― visit europe more (acoleuthic), Monday, 9 August 2010 23:41 (thirteen years ago) link
It is when there's not just a tiny showing of glam/hair metal, but a nearly non-existent presence at all. xps

― Johnny Fever, Monday, 9 August 2010 23:43 (thirteen years ago) link
British Steel = far too low. If normal people were voting, this would've been top 30 easy.
