Start here:

1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol―that our lives had become unmanageable.

*sigh*

You know me, man, I like the Evergreens. Master of Reality, In Rock (already listed), hopefully Tyranny and Mutation and Love it to Death. I'd like to see South of Heaven and Rust in Peace place high. I'd like to see some newer shit that I like that draws on some of the old stuff I like place high, like Blessed Black Wings and Age of Winters.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Monday, 9 August 2010 15:08 (thirteen years ago) link

That's a spectacularly good cover. I will listen to that.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Monday, 9 August 2010 15:09 (thirteen years ago) link

It's a very good album.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 9 August 2010 15:10 (thirteen years ago) link

It's new stuff influenced by old stuff, so Bill needs to try!!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 9 August 2010 15:10 (thirteen years ago) link

I love Slough Feg. I like them and Torche and Baroness more every time I see them live. I'm not big into 80s Judas Priest, but I thought that was a big favorite for a lot of people. I figured at least two of their albums should make top 50, but now I'm getting worried!

Bill, Tyranny & Mutation was at #223!

Maybe Chap likes this? Bill?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 9 August 2010 15:50 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh yeah, love the sound of Napalm in the morning.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Monday, 9 August 2010 15:52 (thirteen years ago) link

I prefer the later, more developed stuff though - the ultra-short grindcore albums are amusing and cool conceptually, but not something I'd sit down and listen too very often.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Monday, 9 August 2010 15:53 (thirteen years ago) link

something thrashy coming up

Devil horns at the ready.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Monday, 9 August 2010 15:58 (thirteen years ago) link

Though actually I'm reading this listening to the rather downbeat and airy new Skream album, maybe I should switch up to something more appropriate.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Monday, 9 August 2010 15:59 (thirteen years ago) link

Wow I thought that'd be top 50

A prog venn diagram for you to think about (Matt #2), Monday, 9 August 2010 16:02 (thirteen years ago) link

Think the consensus is that Seasons in the Abyss is better. With which I would agree.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Monday, 9 August 2010 16:03 (thirteen years ago) link

Seasons was 252

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 9 August 2010 16:06 (thirteen years ago) link

Bad, bad placing.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Monday, 9 August 2010 16:06 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh okay, I am terrible at consensus judging and remembering things.

I'm just going to post my favourite Slayer riff anyway, from Seasons:

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 9 August 2010 16:37 (thirteen years ago) link

Real metal at least

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 9 August 2010 16:43 (thirteen years ago) link

nothing against 'real' metal, everything against people for whom comparative quality is an issue of vintage

visit europe more (acoleuthic), Monday, 9 August 2010 16:45 (thirteen years ago) link

What about people who wont listen to stuff because it's before 1990?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 9 August 2010 16:47 (thirteen years ago) link

No idea what that means, but the issue is simple: I think South of Heaven is a top 10 album of all time. It didnt place there, if that makes me guilty of "comparative vintage" or whatever the fuck you are trying to say in your previous post, then guilty as charged.

He means ppl think only stuff released a long time ago is worthy of all time status and he disagrees.

It's a great album. Different to Kyuss. More heavy rock than stoner.
