he's always been a bit of an anti-climb Max (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:05 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah, I dont think i agree with that.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:08 (thirteen years ago) link

bill "classic rock" magill doesn't think that funkadelic track is heavy enough?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:09 (thirteen years ago) link

I think there is other Funkadelic (who I love, as you may know) that fits into the "Metal/Heavy Rock" category better.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:12 (thirteen years ago) link

time for more music from norway?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:15 (thirteen years ago) link

One of the finest live acts I've seen. And this is my favourite song of theirs.
was #15 on my ballot.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:18 (thirteen years ago) link

42 -
Turbonegro - Get It On (1999) (414 Points, 11 votes - One #1)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHKgsa8nBXo

And Henry will be back for the next 2.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:19 (thirteen years ago) link

That's the biggest points jump so far, yes?

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:21 (thirteen years ago) link

wow more funkadelic huh? and pfunk had nothing to do with that I'm sure... ;P

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:25 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah, i think so.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:26 (thirteen years ago) link

I didn't vote for it, john

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:26 (thirteen years ago) link

I think i actually voted for super stupid

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:26 (thirteen years ago) link

Not the Turbonegro song on my ballot.

Hey Jabulani! Pope of four four two. (aldo), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:27 (thirteen years ago) link

also, Paradise City? Might as well have put Every Rose Has its Thorn up there in its place. yech.

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:31 (thirteen years ago) link

Pretty sure that the markings on this turbonegro fellow are not AKC breed standard.

fuck yes! finally the good Zep rolls in!

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:35 (thirteen years ago) link

Sorry I meant to comment there but I started the youtube to check that it was the right one and nodded off.

Henry Kvlt Pvp, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:36 (thirteen years ago) link

It's like this song is full of subliminal napping suggestions.

Henry Kvlt Pvp, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:37 (thirteen years ago) link

Just a little statistical note, for anybody outraged by any particular placement: until really the top 3, this whole race is extremely close. There are three 10-vote songs outside the top 100, and two 12-vote songs in the top 20. A single extra voter could have pushed that Turbonegro song from 42 to 31, and a second one could have gotten it to 22!

glenn mcdonald, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:38 (thirteen years ago) link

so if you didn't vote you cant complain!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:40 (thirteen years ago) link

I voted, so I can complain at will!!!

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:41 (thirteen years ago) link

and I can complain about your votes!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:42 (thirteen years ago) link

Outside of GNR, this poll is seriously lacking in proper hair metal. I thought an ILM poll would be the best chance of anywhere for it make a respectable showing.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:42 (thirteen years ago) link

I voted for some hair metal stuff -- lets see if Quiet Riot ends up on the list.

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 22:44 (thirteen years ago) link

Hey johnny feel free to post your recap for those who need to catch up.
then we will push on

Man, doubtful Black Blade will place now...

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:00 (thirteen years ago) link

I'm glad there is a commercially available radio edit of "Reaper" that strips out the weirdo doom solo part in the middle, because sometimes I want to hear it and sometimes I don't. It's almost like two different songs (with solo/without solo).

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:00 (thirteen years ago) link

I think the mere idea of a "radio edit" for a hard rock epic is an outright abomination.

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:02 (thirteen years ago) link

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:14 (thirteen years ago) link

Now this is some heavy shit!!! This is such an amazing track... makes me wonder if Dopesmoker will make a surprise highly-placed position. But maybe people didn't vote for a lot of 20+ minute songs like I did...

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:17 (thirteen years ago) link

its better than the #38 falser than false track

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:20 (thirteen years ago) link

but this was the only sleep track nominated.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:21 (thirteen years ago) link

but it rules so much.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:21 (thirteen years ago) link

Henry is back with the next 3 btw

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:21 (thirteen years ago) link

Bring on the FALSE! (unless it's something I think is shitty too.)

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:24 (thirteen years ago) link

This will be disgraceful mark of shame if the rumors are true...

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:25 (thirteen years ago) link

It's by far the shittest thing in the top 100

38 Rush · Tom Sawyer (1981) (points 448 · 12 votes)

I know that people say that metal people are sexist, but I think that having a song with a female lead singer place this high in our countdown proves them wrong.

Sadly the original as you well know is unlistenable, so here is a better more metal version for you all.

Henry Kvlt Pvp, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:33 (thirteen years ago) link

This is your falseness? This song most definitely deserves to be here. More than TWO Manilla Roads and TWO Celtic Frosts do, anyway.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:35 (thirteen years ago) link

(And one really not-heavy not-good Manics song.)
