Mama (Genesis song)

The music video for the song essentially plays out the lyrics, showing Collins singing to a mysterious woman while Banks and Rutherford play in the background. One memorable sequence involves an extremely evil-looking Collins, cloaked in shadows and illuminated by a greenish light, performing the aforementioned sinister laugh.

On a 1985 syndicated episode of the game show Sale of the Century, a relatively unknown Nealon is spotted as one of the friends congratulating and celebrating with champion Tim Holleran, who won everything on stage to win $166,875, including $90,000 in cash.

On February 22 2006, Nealon[5] contributed a story to the New York Times about being wiretapped by Hollywood private investigator Anthony Pellicano, who has been indicted on racketeering and conspiracy charges. It was also revealed in a separate court case on February 27, 2006, that investigators working for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus may also have targeted Nealon for wiretapping.[6]

Blender was developed as an in-house application by the Dutch animation studio NeoGeo (not to be confused with the Neo-Geo game console) and Not a Number Technologies (NaN). It was primarily authored by Ton Roosendaal, who had previously written a ray tracer called Traces for Amiga in 1989. The name "Blender" was inspired by a song by Yello, from the album Baby.

Robin's Nest was a British sitcom starring Richard O'Sullivan as Robin Tripp, one of the lead characters in the sitcom Man About the House, which had ended in 1976. Robin's Nest aired for six series from 1977 to 1981, and co-starred Tessa Wyatt as Robin's girlfriend and later wife and Tony Britton as her father. It was made by Thames Television and aired on ITV.

Creators Cooke and Mortimer had to get special permission from the IBA (the then governing body of Independent TV in Britain) to be able to portray an unmarried couple living together; special concern arose at scenes in which Robin and Vicky were seen in an obvious state of undress in bed. In 1978, Robin and Vicky were married and later had a set of twins.

After making the winning bid of $50,000, Ebersol was given a private performance of the song at Simon's home. After a lunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and vodka on the rocks, Simon whispered the subject into his ear. A condition of that prize is that Ebersol would not reveal to anyone the actual subject. Later, Ebersol revealed that he was allowed by Simon to divulge a clue about the person's name.

excerpts from floyd landis's wikipedia page

The LeMond testimony

On May 17, 2007 Greg LeMond took the stand in the USADA arbitration hearing. Under oath, he described a phone conversation he had with Floyd Landis on August 6, 2006 as well as another with Will Geoghegan, Landis's business manager, on May 16th, the evening before the testimony. The major points of the testimony are as follow:

* In an August 6 phone conversation, LeMond allegedly told Landis that If you did (use banned substances), you could single-handedly change the sport. You could be the one who will salvage the sport, to which Landis allegedly responded What good would it do? If I did, it would destroy a lot of my friends and hurt a lot of people.[54]
* LeMond disclosed his childhood sexual abuse by a LeMond family friend to Landis. I was sexually abused before I got into cycling, and it nearly destroyed me by keeping it secret, LeMond allegedly said to Landis. (Lying about doping) will come back to haunt you when you are 40 or 50. If you have a moral compass and ethics, this will destroy you.[54]
* Will Geoghegan called LeMond at his personal mobile phone number the night before the scheduled testimony. LeMond's BlackBerry, with Geoghegan's phone number captured in the call log, was entered into evidence.[54]

According to Lemond quoted in the Sunday Times the conversation with Geoghegan was,

“Hello.”
“Greg?”
“Yeah, this is Greg.”
“Hi Greg, this is your uncle.”
“My uncle?!?”
“This is your uncle. Do you remember me?”
“Who is this?”
“This is your uncle and I’m going to be there tomorrow and we can talk about how we used to play hide the weenie.”

Rachel Barton Pine
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rachel_Barton_Pine

On January 16, 1995, Barton Pine was severely injured in a train accident in the suburb of Winnetka, where she taught violin lessons. As she was exiting a Metra commuter train with her violin over her shoulder, the doors closed on the strap to her case, pinning her left shoulder to the train. The doors, which were controlled remotely and had no safety sensors, failed to open, and she was dragged 366 feet by the train before being pulled underneath and run over, severing one leg and severely mangling the other.
She sued Metra and in 1999, the case went to court. Metra argued that she made the choice not to pull her arm out of the strap of the violin case due to the value of the instrument, a 400-year-old Amati valued at around $500,000, and thus she carried most of the blame for her injuries. The jury decided otherwise, however, and awarded her $29 million. Metra changed its conductor safety procedures following the accident and made other changes to the trains themselves.

...

Her taste in rock runs to heavy metal, with Van Halen, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Anthrax, Metallica, Pantera, Slayer and Megadeth being among her favorites. She has met and jammed with a number of these, and in 1997 released a heavy-metal-inspired CD.

In the first season, Jesse's last name was "Cochran", reportedly because one of the producers was a fan of attorney Johnnie Cochran. His name was changed after Season 1, when he came to be called "Jesse Katsopolis". The name change was due to Stamos wanting his character to better reflect his Greek heritage. No reason is given for the character's name change, but fans tend to believe it could have been a stage name, especially because the name "Cochran" also disappeared from his band's name "Jesse and the Rippers" after the first season. In one episode, Jesse admits his birth name was "Hermes", which actually happens to be his real-life paternal grandfather's name.

Charles-Valentin Alkan(November 30, 1813–March 29, 1888) was a French composer and one of the greatest virtuoso pianists of his day.

Alkan died in Paris in 1888 at the age of 74. For many years it was believed that his death was caused by a bookcase falling on him in his home, brought down as he reached for a volume of the Talmud from a high shelf. This apocryphal tale, which appears to have been circulated by Delaborde, has been effectively disproved by Hugh Macdonald, who reports a contemporary letter from one of Alkan's pupils explaining that Alkan had died following being trapped beneath a falling porte-parapluies (a heavy coat/umbrella rack).

It has also been reported as a practice in hazing[7] among athletic teams. This is described in an article by Robert DeKoven from Gay and Lesbian Times.[8]

“ One such story involved what school officials termed a hazing incident, which involved three varsity wrestlers and three coaches at Argo Community High School near Chicago. The school suspended the wrestlers and coaches for a hazing incident that involved the “tea-bagging” of several freshman wrestlers.
Cyd Zeigler Jr. reports that the incident occurred on a bus trip home last year on Dec. 1. ... According to the Daily Southtown, the three varsity wrestlers pulled freshmen, one by one, to the back of the bus. There, two of the boys held each boy down as the third boy shoved his testicles in the freshman’s face.

Teabagging again gained national attention in 2006 in the national media for a similar incident that occurred in Avoca, IA where the local wrestling team performed a similar initiation as the Dennis Horkenbach Chicago incident.

The area is also home to a significant South African community, who were supposedly originally attracted to the area in the early and mid 1990s through their awareness of its proximity to Wimbledon, a name which they knew from their fondness of sports in general and tennis in particular. New arrivals told their friends, and with the change in the job market in South Africa in the 1990s, a trickle of new arrivals became a stream in the years that followed. It is also rumoured amoung locals that the areas predominantly white population is a key reason for the large South African community.

Trivia
Lists of miscellaneous information should be avoided. Please relocate any relevant information into appropriate sections or articles. (December 2007)

The Back to the Future movie series is referenced often enough in Ozma songs to warrant mention here. The song Lorraine is about George McFly's girlfriend who is Marty McFly's mother. The song Game Over contains the lyric "where I go I don't need roads," which is a play off Doc Brown's dialogue at the end of Back To the Future, while Come Home Andrea contains the line "girl make one man cry, make another man sing" - referencing the Huey Lewis and the News song "The Power of Love" as featured in the first film. A less obvious reference is in the song In Search of 1988, which says "Warp me back at 88" - the speed in miles per hour required to travel back in time in the films. Most recently, in the song Motorology 3:39 the lyric "I'm still dreamin' of clock towers and synchronicity" is most likely a reference to the clock tower featured prominently in the film trilogy.

Ozma's first three albums all used a similar technique of using the acoustic version of a prominent riff from a song in some other section of the CD. However, Pasadena does not follow this pattern. On Rock and Roll Part Three the ending of Track 9 is the acoustic melody of Track 1. Track 1 on The Doubble Donkey Disc is the acoustic melody during 2:09 to 2:35 of Track 4 and 1:44 to 2:13 of Track 5. On Spending Time on the Borderline the end of Track 3 is a stringed instrument version of the melody for Track 4.

Daniel Brummel can be seen in the upper right side of the cover for Weezer's The Good Life EP. He's the one with light blonde hair.

Ryen Slegr is of Czech origin.

Ozma appeared on Track 1 of "Hear You Me! A Tribute to Mykel and Carli" with the song "Iceland". This compilation benefit CD of various artists was released in 1997.

The old official band website ozmaonline.com had a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) theme. Also, the song "In Search of 1988" references Mario and Luigi of The Super Mario Bros. games. "Maybe in an Alternate Dimension (Flight of the Bootymechanic)" references Link, "the Zelda warrior".

In the song Flight of the Bootymaster the lyric "Wesley Willis starts to break down, feels the beat, and hits the dance floor" is an accurate description of the artist, a diagnosed schizophrenic, as he would often join the audience and headbutt his fans.[1]

Prior to the 2002 Warped Tour, Star Wick was a passenger in a car accident that caused her to require eye surgery due to the airbag inflating and causing her contact lens to tear her cornea. She missed a few dates and Derek Grant from Alkaline Trio filled in for her on keyboards while she recovered. [2]

The title of the CD Rock and Roll Part Three is a reference to the Gary Glitter songs "Rock 'N' Roll (Part One)" and "Rock 'N' Roll (Part Two)."

The song Eponine is most likely an indirect tribute to the character Eponine from the novel Les Miserables. The character of Eponine had an unrequited love for the character Marius Pontmercy. The song merges the themes of revolution and bolsheviks which are only loosely related to Les Miserables.

Singer Gavin O'Brien was a heavy local at Winchester Skatepark and was more than able to hold his own in any session: vert, street, banks, whatever. Adam "Bomb" Segal's trademark high top Vans in all the bright, cool colors of the day had ollie holes on both shoes-the dude was doing switch tricks before anyone. Keith Rendon (drummer #1), Ray Stevens, II (bass) and Craig Bosch (drummer #2) were all accomplished skaters; Craig even has a trick named after him: the Bosch (a invert to blunt on a curb, ledge, etc).

Paul Morley (born 26 March 1957 in Stockport, Cheshire) is an English journalist, who wrote for the New Musical Express from 1977 to 1983, during one of its most successful and relatively notorious periods, and has since written for a wide range of publications. His style divided the NME readership of the time (an early, confrontational interview with Jerry Garcia was judged to have lost the paper several thousand regular readers),[citation needed]. British Alternative band The Cure played a version of their song 'Grinding Halt' with new lyrics parodying Morley's writing style after an unfavourable review of their debut album Three Imaginary Boys. He has been described as 'a nodder' and a 'pretentious git' on more than one occasion.
