I saw Christine Elise at a tiny film festival in Michigan a couple of years ago -- she was really nice and dressed sorta butch.

Tori got divorced. While still married, she got together with the actor of one of the Z-grade films (or series?) she was *acting* in as well. Apparently her dad's (or was it mum?) was angry and they might disown her cause she ridiculed her mum on a show she does? I'm not too sure, I was never a big fan of her. Oh yeah, apparently she doesn't accept any money from daddy as she prefers to live a Simpler Life. heh.

so notorious is funny, though not nearly as sick and wrong as fat actress.

Brenda/Shannen Doherty was the best part of 90210; I couldn't watch it after she left. fucking Kelly Taylor.

She was in a semi-recent episode of Law And Order too - playing a messed up drug dealer.

It was hilarious how JOE E. TATA got into the main credits around Season Seven, once they'd purged the show of every other "adult" character.

And Brenda became intolerable after Kelly and Dylan started going out. Her character literally had nothing else to do other than complain about how unfair her life was. It wasn't as bad as Pam on "Dallas" after Bobby started dating Jenna Wade, but it was pretty bad.

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 8 June 2006 18:12 (seventeen years ago) link

highlights:
- The F'Lips episode
- the episode where Dylan freebased heroin and drove off a cliff
- any episode involving BAG rapping.

Ah, according to IMDb the actress who played Andrea was Gabrielle Carteris, and she was born in 1961, which makes her 4 years older than even Luke Perry.

Carteris was also in the first season of The Surreal Life

Lindsay Price turned up in a couple episodes of Kitchen Confidential

OHMIGOD, THE FLAMING LIPS EPISODE!!!

I was just thinking about that the other day. The most WTF? moment I'd seen on commercial television in a long time.

remember the episode where Brenda couldn't stop listening to REM's "Losing My Religion"? THAT was intolerable.... sadly, the template for shows that 90210 provided has resulted in a ton of totally unwatchable shit.

Highlights:

-- DONNA MARTIN GRADUATES!! DONNA MARTIN GRADUATES!! DONNA MARTIN GRADUATES!! DONNA MARTIN GRADUATES!! DONNA MARTIN GRADUATES!!

-- Brenda ripping into Dylan and Kelly on the street when she found out they'd been seeing each other during the summer. This might have been Brenda's finest moment (the ep when she snuck away to Baja with Dylan is right up there) but it was also one of her last scenes that was decent in any way.

-- Dylan giving David the straight talk on drugs and helping him flush his stash down the toilet.

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 8 June 2006 18:24 (seventeen years ago) link

Andrea was the type of character that served no purpose once they were out of high school (no need to have the stereotypical nerdy chick anymore) although it was entertaining to see her go from frigid to popping out babies in about one season's time.

Mr. Walsh was Mr. Hogan of "The Hogan Family"!

SO choice:

1. BAG getting hooked on speed or meth or whatever and zooming through his college radio show
2. The “racism is bad” episode, post L.A. riots
3. Jason P’s descent into alcoholism and exit from the show (what happened there plotwise? I had stopped watching by the time this went down – once they got to college and Brenda left it got boring boring boring)
4. Gabby having an affair with a heartless married dude that was discovered by sensitive Luke Perry
5. the episodes that spun off into Melrose Place
6. Perry’s dad’s (grizzled vet from Days) boat blowing up real good
7. The episodes where Dylan rescues his sister from a kidnapping so convoluted I can’t recall teh details now

Mr. Walsh was Mr. Hogan of "The Hogan Family"!

Nope, that was Dylan's dad (also a Days of Our Lives regular, as Raymond noted).

Another daytime soap connection: Kelly's dad was played by the actor that played C.C. Capwell on "Santa Barbara".

Mr. Walsh was Mr. Hogan of "The Hogan Family"!

He's also Roman Brady on Days Of Our Lives, which my wife shamefully watches.

In the fall of 1999, I started watching re-runs of 90210 on FX every night from 5-7 when I was getting home and making dinner and such. This was the last year that actual new episodes were on the air, so I ended up watching the entire ten year run of the show (reruns on FX, new epidoses on Fox) in about 9 months. It was pretty intense, and I've not watched it or even thought much about it since then.

There was a time though when I was really drunk and trying to make up rap lyrics about 90210 - the only bit I remember was "getting lost like the Martian lander / cheating on the big test like Steve Sanders".

And what is Jamie Walters doing RIGHT NOW?

What, no Melrose Place chatter? Come on, Heather Locklear and POOL BOY!!!

I mean, FFS, I was well old enough to know better but still remember getting into fake spats about whether Dylan or Brandon was hotter.

My former housemate in NYC was also hooked - but, as she pointed out "It's only really good when someone has a really awful addiction" which was, like, every other week.

What happenned with Kelly's mum and David's dad? And whose mum was having the affair, was that Donna?

ooh remember when someone had a really awful addiction (over by the end of the episode... or maybe it was a rare all-out two episode spree!) and didn't notice that they'd pushed Donna into the pool and she'd hit her head and got knocked out?

East Side Story (edit)
Community Score
7.4 Good
First aired: 2/14/1991 Production Code: 2190014

The Walshes agree to let their maid's extremely intelligent "niece," Carla, use their address to enroll at West Beverly. Brandon falls hard for her, but doesn't understand why everyone seems opposed to their relationship. Carla reveals that she witnessed a drive-by shooting that claimed the life of a four-year-old; she had moved in with Anna while waiting to testify, with protection from the D.A. Carla returns to her family after one of the killers confesses. Jim and Cindy organize a soiree for his new client, a sportswear designer. Dylan, Steve and the girls receive free clothing. David wants MC Hammer to perform at the school dance.
Music: "Let's Go Deeper" by MC Hammer; "Finger Poppin' Time" by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters (#7, 1960); "Deep Down" by Debbie Gibson

Andrea persuades Brandon to run for class president. Kelly seizes control of the campaign and encourages Brandon to capitalize on his looks and image. She even agrees to a date with David in exchange for his help producing a campaign video. Brandon decides that he isn't the best man for the job after talking with his bright and dedicated opponent. Brenda, feeling neglected by family and friends, begins hanging out at a coffeehouse. Sky, a performance artist, convinces Brenda to drop out of high school and get her GED so that she can "experience life." Brenda moves out of the Walsh house to apartment-sit for Sky. She learns that life as an artist is not as romantic as it seems, as Sky's utilities are turned off and her furniture is repossessed. Music: "Hippychick" by Soho

I totally saw that second one! all I really remember about it is Brenda wearing a loose, flowy dress and one of those Blossom hats to school and Kelly seeing her at her locker and saying, "the hippy witch look is totally out" or something to that effect. Kelly and Brenda weren't friends that week for some reason.

37. U4EA (edit)
Community Score
8.2 Great
First aired: 11/14/1991 Production Code: 2191036

Emily invites everyone to join her at an underground club. The location is a secret; the gang must exchange an egg at a convenience store for this information. The others leave without Steve and Andrea, who end up going to the wrong store and embarrassing themselves. Kelly is mortified when David drinks an entire bottle of whiskey, but Donna dances with him and has a good time. Emily slips a drug called U4EA into Brandon's drink to get him to loosen up. He is too wasted to drive, and vandals trash his car when he leaves it at the club overnight. Brandon does not expose Emily's deed to his parents, but breaks up with her because he no longer trusts her. Music: "Hold on to Love" by T'Pau

Her popularity increasing, Kazan posed nude for the October 1970 issue of Playboy, which was reused in Pocket Playboy #4, issued in 1974. Her appearance in the magazine opened the door for her to headline at, and operate, two different Playboy Jazz Clubs. Overseen by Hugh Hefner himself, the clubs were called "Lainie’s Room West" and "Lainie's Room East," each on opposite coasts, with the first one located in Los Angeles and the other in Manhattan. Her Playboy photographs inspired the look of Jack Kirby’s DC Comics superheroine, Big Barda.

The rave episode, the Flaming Lips appearance but honestly maybe the musical moment that marks a time and place is right in the pilot where Brenda goes to that nightclub and Gene Loves Jezebel's "The Motion of Love" is what's on their soundsystem. (Especially since it was 1990 and that came out three years prior, but maybe that makes sense for the sleazy lawyer making the moves.)

I was too young to watch this at the time, but have been dipping in when I feel like some '90s cheese--so I tend to go straight to the "very special" episodes such as "Ashes to Ashes", where a Black family moves in next door and face hassles with the neighborhood private security. ("A scheduled April repeat of this episode was pulled from the air without notice following the Los Angeles riots because it was supposedly too controversial" sez Wikipedia.)

Having served their afterschool special role, this family is never seen again on the show.

A kind soul on the internet has done editing work to restore the original music back into the episodes and uploaded them onto Google Drive. If the email linked to my ILX account still existed I'd be happy to share the link, but alas.
