It's only horrible in that it wasn't an art film. As a stupid, Hollywood romantic comedy, it wasn't bad. .. OK, not the BEst sHrc, but entertaining if you're not expecting anything good and you're on a plane with nothing to read. If they had used Pere Ubu for the soundtrack, I might have given it a higher grade.

Why do people in romantic comedies always live in expensive houses?

Believe me, I have had to watch many many romantic comedies because I have a girlfriend, and this is NOT a good romantic comedy. It's not a good movie at all. The best thing I can say about it is that it had Amanda Peet in it, who I like but who should fire her agent because she's only ever in terrible terrible movies.

I have never seen Irreversable and don't think I would like it. I do, however, love Barton Fink.

Nicholson leering and letting butt hang out > Owen Wilson slumming

I actually agree with that.

this movie is pretty bad, i largely agree with n/a. and the main reason it's bad besides being kinda shrill and unlikeable throughout is that it's at LEAST 45 minutes too long. it really really overstays its welcome.

Nah, despite the rotten script, Keaton and the Jack take it over midstream and make it quite touching. (re-view when you're over 55) Unfortunately there's a seen-from-the-horizon Parisian climax and a nauseating feelgood coda.

"Pretty bad" is reserved for making Odets an unfunny joke loaded with portentous sub-Lynchian non-meaning.

i haven't read the thread, but to me it was weirdly like 'gaspar noe does barton fink' -- can't put my finger on why.
