cutty (mcutt), Friday, 12 August 2005 12:02 (eighteen years ago) link

in my soulseek wishlist, this morning:

my folk song recorded by a campfire in the wood which boards of canada may well have never been to but the key factor is that a) there was an acoustic guitar and b) there was a campfire.mp3

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 12 August 2005 13:19 (eighteen years ago) link

ooooh - I was kinda hoping that since they'd upped the sinister on Geogaddi that they'd do it again on this one.

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 12 August 2005 13:30 (eighteen years ago) link

yeah, also more grossly deformed synths recorded at more distortion-inducing levels!

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 12 August 2005 16:50 (eighteen years ago) link

at approximately 3 minutes into the track, the beat vanishes without warning and a children's choir takes over.

oh god nooooooo

oops (Oops), Friday, 12 August 2005 16:55 (eighteen years ago) link

i don't think he means like the vienna boys choir, oops.

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 12 August 2005 16:57 (eighteen years ago) link

i'm trying to determine if any of those song descriptions match up with hari's mp3.

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 12 August 2005 16:57 (eighteen years ago) link

fake?

mark p (Mark P), Saturday, 13 August 2005 12:08 (eighteen years ago) link

Can't tell yet, as we're all probably queued up in the same line.

Gerard (Gerard), Saturday, 13 August 2005 12:38 (eighteen years ago) link

hi

cutty (mcutt), Saturday, 13 August 2005 13:06 (eighteen years ago) link

fake.

mark p (Mark P), Saturday, 13 August 2005 13:28 (eighteen years ago) link

Yeah, thats about as fake as it gets, unfortunately...

Gerard (Gerard), Saturday, 13 August 2005 14:20 (eighteen years ago) link

Fake and a half.

Citypark, Saturday, 13 August 2005 17:28 (eighteen years ago) link

the review by angryrobot is bullshit. fake.

dan godlike, Saturday, 13 August 2005 22:16 (eighteen years ago) link

vienna or not, there has never been a good use of a children's choir. it's impossible.

oops (Oops), Saturday, 13 August 2005 22:24 (eighteen years ago) link

so hari did you make that track you YSIed up there?

mark p (Mark P), Saturday, 13 August 2005 22:59 (eighteen years ago) link

I knew that review was bogus the second I laid eyes on it!

Simon H. (Simon H.), Sunday, 14 August 2005 01:32 (eighteen years ago) link

I will never doubt the fanaticism of BoC fans again.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 14 August 2005 01:50 (eighteen years ago) link

I havent heard it but Im not expecting anything uh.. unexpected?

if its a rehash of their previous stuff, Im guessing it will be a bit boring. you can only rework the same stuff so many times.

vanessa novaeris (novaeris), Sunday, 14 August 2005 13:36 (eighteen years ago) link

i don't think bands have to change all the time but if your sonic pallette is as limited as BOC's surely is there's only so much you can do with it.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 14 August 2005 14:28 (eighteen years ago) link

couldn't disagree more. how come no one ever says stuff like that about folk artists and acoustic guitars?

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 14 August 2005 14:52 (eighteen years ago) link

they don't?

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 14 August 2005 16:02 (eighteen years ago) link

actually maybe they don't. it must be because they abolutely hate electronic music & are biased against it. or maybe they do just find BOC fairly limited.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 14 August 2005 16:07 (eighteen years ago) link

Blimey, i started the anticipation thread for Geogaddi, + it never got this level of attention. Campfire Headphase may turn out to be the most faked pre-release ever; if I can summon up enough self-discipline for one of my very favourite acts I'll wait until the official release

stevo (stevo), Sunday, 14 August 2005 16:34 (eighteen years ago) link

couldn't disagree more. how come no one ever says stuff like that about folk artists and acoustic guitars?
-- mark p

GUITARS, you say? whats a guitar?

;P

vanessa novaeris (novaeris), Sunday, 14 August 2005 19:44 (eighteen years ago) link

Wasn't "Human After All" pretty faked out? This is the year of the highly anticipated/fake leaked albums! say what?

dj Mattiepoo, Sunday, 14 August 2005 21:39 (eighteen years ago) link

mattiepoo i believe that was more a case of people not wanting to believe the leak was real ie "daft punk can't possibly make an album this bad"

nervous (cochere), Sunday, 14 August 2005 22:26 (eighteen years ago) link

human after all was a total fake, i can't believe everybody fell for that!

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 14 August 2005 23:55 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm too much of a bum to look through this whole thread...is there samples of this anywhere?

seahorse genius (seahorse genius), Monday, 15 August 2005 04:54 (eighteen years ago) link

no i don't think so. 222 messages discussing the cover and the definition of viral marketing. check back in a few weeks.

acid memories, Monday, 15 August 2005 11:46 (eighteen years ago) link

there has never been a good use of a children's choir. it's impossible.

Gavin Bryar's "The Sinking of the Titanic" would seem to disagree with you, as would the resultant Aphex Twin remixes.

Matt Tuozzo (TheChisa), Monday, 15 August 2005 13:33 (eighteen years ago) link

as would heartbroken children around the world, you thoughtless wretch.
