Performance of "Ain't That A Lot Of Love" on the Rolling Stones Rock n Roll Circus is outstanding. Not on youtube. Jesse Ed Davis throws out a sick solo and has a priceless look on his face while he does it.

I haven't thought about this guy in awhile but his albums were pretty inescapable for a few key years in my early 20s. I loved pretty much everything he did. Just perfect music for certain summery situations. I'm kind of amazed this thread is so short, but maybe there's just not much to say except... Taj Mahal fuckin rocks?

Yeah, I've been on kind of a Taj kick lately. Had never heard his self titled debut until today. Ry Cooder and Jesse Ed really killer on this, and the bassist (Gary Gilmore!) is super.

I have been listening to his Natch'l Blues album this morning, it's awesome.

I usually name Goffin-King's "Take a Giant Step" as my favourite Monkees song. Had no idea there was a Taj Mahal version--it's used over the end credits of The Sunshine Makers, a documentary on early acid proponents Tim Scully and Nick Sand.
