have heard his name only a handful of times in the past few years; as a consequence grudgingly willing to let him go on.

Ha, I recently had the urge to dl his whole catalog just to see whether I'd been "missing out" all these years. Luckily, some kind souls talked me down off the ledge. But I'll stick up for "Are You Gonna Go My Way" and the song "Rock 'n' Roll Is Dead," both of which have better-than-decent riffs.

I dislike his music, finding it derivative at best. OTOH in his defence a) he doesn't seem to be a jerk and b) his music isn't ubiquitous, in fact you actively have to seek it out in order to be annoyed by it.

I remember being amused that he finally discovered the 1980s when he covered "Sharp Dressed Man." Uh I mean when he wrote "Where Are We Runnin?"

I bought Let Love Rule in early '90 on the strength of the title track. Although I have no intention of relistening, I remember "I Built This Garden For Us" and "Mr Cab Driver" being dippy but not stupid. I even bought Mama Said, but by then I'd already owned and loved several Prince records.

Sampling a couple of its songs on iTunes now...I totally forgot about "Empty Hands." Harmonium! Castanets!

I think the album with "It Ain't Over til It's Over" has got loads of nice slow funky jams like that on it? I could be wrong. I definitely heard one Lenny album I liked one time and it wasn't full of shitty pub rock tunes.

When stuck in a car with 2 Stephen Lynch albums and a Lenny Kravitz album, it was nice to have something not actively offensive (well, maybe only slightly) to listen to

(Well, OK: I quite liked Are You Gonna Go My Way aged 12 and still get a slight guilty pleasure on the rare occasions I hear it)

He is/was arousingly sexy. Can't vouch for his music tho.
