just today i enjoyed the flute interlude during "the court of the crimson king"
flute is ok but kinda wussy

i do like that song - but i'd like that interlude more if played on bassoon or violin ... god flute is wussy!

the toy piano (or whatever it is) interlude is the better of the two little quiet interludes
i like the flute organ when it's being used in early music-type arrangements, though

clarinet players are the weirdos of the whole band, one of my band teachers once said. I agree with that having been one.

yeah, but there are almost as many clarinet players as flute players - how can they all be the "weirdos"?

i was a clarinet player in grade school and definitely not field hockey type
but the only reason i played the clarinet is because i literally had no other choice. was at the end of the line.

I wrote a big rambly post on my blog about being angry all the time, this morning (and how I hate it when men IGNORE YOU when you just want someone to listen, but thats a whole nother thing). And I'm starting to think I need to redirect all my crank into some kind of energetic thing.

Not drums tho, haha. I'm way too uncoordinated :D Bashing away at a bass and hollering into a mic are fun though. Should do it more often. Fuck the neighs.

must have posted about this on ilx before, maybe multiple times, but the summer i was 13 i watched Pretty in Pink every day. that's not hyperbole.

awwwww. I don't even know how many times I must have seen it but damn HS, that's pretty impressive.

Pretty In Pink was always my least favorite of those movies. I went from age 13 and hating how mean she was to ducky and choosing that whine-y a-hole to age 25 and thinking ducky was kind of stalker-y and overly possessive and still hating the whine-y a hole. Also her dress at the end makes me want to puke. Ducky is really cute though.

i am the rare viewer of Pretty in Pink who did not have a problem with her not picking Duckie. figured hughes was committed to his across-the-tracks romance and also Duckie read as gay to me.

When I was little I really loved (still do tbh) the OMD song that is played during the prom scene. I wanted it on tape so I held a tape recorder up to the TV when it was on once and taped the whole scene. I know the last 10 mins by heart because I listened to that recording so much.

"This is a very romantic moment and you're ruining it for me . . . "

i still listen to the pretty in pink soundtrack from time to time. whatever, y'all, it's good!

So when L and I lived in England he tried for a while to find P in P for me on DVD but it hadn't been released in the UK. He finally found it and excitedly ordered it for me and had it delivered to his office as we did with all packages. The day it was delivered he was talking to a bunch of people while opening his mail and they all saw him take Pretty in Pink out of the envelope only it wasn't the P in P we're talking about here. It was a porn that he'd just opened in front of his manager.

thought of this thread yesterday - a male friend referred to the pee style as the "ladyfunnel" - also, going back to something way way upthread, had conversation with another girl about pubescent memories of seeing David Bowie's junk in Labyrinth - this made quite an impression on her, again, I have no memory of this, I only remember the boots. I had such a wholesome upbringing.

oh! that reminds me of the name of the thing my mom bought me when i turned 16. i got my driver's license and she presented me with "le funnelle", a female urinary aid. "you know, just in case you really have to pee by the side of the road at some point. just keep them in your glove compartment. let's hope you never need them." she also forced me to tote around a reflective thermal blanket just in case i got into an accident in the winter.

it was a little box of paper funnels that you hold up to your crotch and pee into. they were disposable.
i tried one once inside (in a bathroom) to see if they worked, and they did. never had to use one on the road, though.
