yeah, but they know to drop the preposition. they just keep plural thanks. just in case?

yeah, i had a little sad hoarder collection of old shampoos i used to use just in case they were discontinued and i wanted to smell them again. they were all discontinued/scents were changed and now i will never smell those smells again. it really does make me sad. nothing brings back memories like shampoo.

old pert plus, for example. also white rain with the red top and strawberry suave.

strawberry suave was great! i think my ex-bf used that for a while.

x-post to Roxy - You're welcome!

That said, I just noticed that he looks really small compared to the other guys and looked it up he's only 5'6". Sort of a bummer.

I use TIGI oatmeal and honey shampoo and conditioner. It smells like oatmeal raisin and cinnamon cookies. I'm not normally one for food scents but it is so good.

the other day i was having post leg-shaving itchiness and thought of this thread.

sarahel, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:29 (thirteen years ago) link

pert plus still exists, but it doesn't smell like it did when i used it and that is a shame
i also had a little bit of the original lever 2000, which smelled really good

i'm glad someone remembers strawberry suave RIP

LL, I think a Jewish person I know says "thanks God", and I've always just mentally filled it in as "thanks be to G-d" or whatever -- basically I assume it's in translation and therefore doesn't bear the burden of making any literal sense.

I am always tempted to try this just because I love the bottle so much:

one of the reason's i don't like summer is because it requires sunscreen, and sunscreens generally smell bad and make my skin break out.

If I wasn't aware that it was a translation issue, I'd think it was a verb tense thing, like, "Thanks, God" like they are thanking god personally, or it could be third person singular with the pronoun dropped - like "one thanks god for something like this" - totally stream of consciousness thinking here

sarahel, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:34 (thirteen years ago) link

I remember strawberry Suave and GYHST quite well. As it turns out, GYHST smells pretty awful.

sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:34 (thirteen years ago) link

i almost never correct them when they say thanks god. why bother, it's not confusing to anyone and it's such a little thing. it's not like when the young lady in my class wrote about how we should all visit the beautiful bitches of guatemala or the girl who said she likes guys who are rapers.

oh and by the way, my skin is a MESS thanks to sunscreen. ugh. and i still have insane amts of freckles/sunspots.

Organix Nourishing Cocnout Milk Shampoo is my favorite shampoo, so luxurious! but it is expensive so I just buy the grapefruit flavor suave. There are currently no guys in my life to give instant orgasms to so

I went shopping Monday and got the first dress I have ever felt like fully accessorizing with. I got a matching belt and have shoes but freaking I need a purse and those brown sunglasses dammit! I've never felt this way about clothing before.

ps that guy is cuet. d d too obv.

season 3 - and my hair is super-thick

sarahel, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 23:09 (thirteen years ago) link

pantene makes hair super dry, it's like pure detergent. herbal essences smells way too strong and not good imo

Did anyone use Revlon Outrageous? That stuff smelled like perfume, and I loved it when I was in college.

Now I use conditioners to wash my hair, and all of it seems to smell too strong.

JuliaA, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 23:57 (thirteen years ago) link

Yes! I loved Outrageous.

Whole Foods has an unscented conditioner that I believe is appropriate for a no 'poo program. I'll check the brand when I get home.

I use a shampoo bar hand-crafted by free range hippies.

sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Thursday, 8 July 2010 00:02 (thirteen years ago) link

i like whole foods shampoo/conditioner. it took a while for my hair to get used to it because it doesn't strip much oil away but even the scented version is not that smelly.

the girl with the butt tattoo (harbl), Thursday, 8 July 2010 00:05 (thirteen years ago) link

My Proustian hair care was Body Shop's Rosemary Shampoo. The Kiehl's I use now does not smell as strong, but is similar. I seriously cannot remember ever using drugstore shampoo past No More Tears-type stuff. It's because my mother is a bargain barracuda and Minneapolis is Aveda HQ so we were in gallons of salon-sized Aveda shampoos etc starting when I was a teenager.

omg totally forgot abt Outrageous! Hahaa. I used in for a bit a long time ago. Srsly can't deal w anything smelly now. Not even aveda :(

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 8 July 2010 00:22 (thirteen years ago) link

My mom would seriously go to Cancer Society rummage sales and come back with these HUGE plastic jugs full of high-end shampoo - I think her first big score was a bunch of Paul Mitchell. The only shampoo we ever had that truly honked/was vile was anything AUSSIE-related, smell makes me shudder still.

THIS BOOK EQUAL CONJOB (suzy), Thursday, 8 July 2010 00:26 (thirteen years ago) link

Thanks Jenny!

Right now I'm using Suave conditioners because they're cheap, and they work fine but they smell so incredibly strong. Fragrances don't usually linger in my hair, but these do––today I smell like coconuts.

XP I used to love Aussie products! I used to like all sorts of super–scented crap.

JuliaA, Thursday, 8 July 2010 00:31 (thirteen years ago) link

If they made frankincense-scented shampoo I would buy gallons of it.

Wait is Aussie a brand, or are you guys generalising about our shitty shampoos? =)

It's a brand that's probably not Australian at all:
